Just out of curiosity why are these so expensive?

The price hasn't changed since it was brought out.
They're also good quality guitars, like the other Classic Vibes. Squier /= bad quality.

Not doubting the quality, but my Jagmaster was cheaper

£180 is not expensive for a guitar of the quality you are getting. In fact, that is at the extremely thin end of guitar prices.
End of thread.

It looks like the price has gone up in the States, I believe it used to be $180.
In that case I understand your original question and don't understand either, could it be Squier are doing a "Fender" and price hiking for no apparent reason?

Yeah that's what I was wondering. I seen them at first around the US for around $200. And then they shot up at Guitar Center and Musician's Friend and the like

the squier prices got bumped at the same time as the fender prices. the duo was like $260 or something before.

MF was selling this over the phone for $199 just recently. When it comes to Fender more companies are willing to give you a 15% to 25% discount off the retail price without haggling because they're probably having trouble selling them.

not sure what squier is doing- some prices are up and some are the same(scratches head)
I would have given up already if it wasn't for the impending revolution!
