Saw them in GC today, and they are really really nice looking. Satiny finished and very classy. Can't wait for them to start showing up on the used market... why does such an evil company have to make such fine gear.

I didn't get to play it, though I intend to.astro wrote:These things look cool as fuck... too bad about the questionable beliefs at Danelectro.
Aren't these things super cheap, too? I'm also keeping my eyes open for when they show up used.
Is the trem usable on these?
I think it's about 400 smackers, not too bad.
It has a strange bridge... it's just a hunk of wood. didn't even seem to be any string grooves cut into it. Just the edge of teh wood for tension...

Danelectro is a fine company, the whole proposition 8 thing doesn't really bother me anyways. I don't agree with it, but im not for hating on people for their opinions, let the head guy at danelectro do what he wants and have his veiws. everyone is intitled to their own opinion.
That being said, i really want one of the new longhorn bass reissues.

This is not so much about tolerating other people's moral standings as it is about knowingly facillitating their execution.the isaac eaton wrote:Danelectro is a fine company, the whole proposition 8 thing doesn't really bother me anyways. I simply can't want one of these bad enough to justify spending my nut sweat soaked cash knowing it could be used to in support of this cause.

The problem is he has done exactly the opposite. He doesn't agree with it so he donated money to help stop it happening.the isaac eaton wrote:I don't agree with it, but im not for hating on people for their opinions, let the head guy at danelectro do what he wants and have his veiws. everyone is intitled to their own opinion.
I don't quite understand the speaking against the boycotting of Danelectro stance. Intolerance of intolerance isn't such a bad thing. When they were such a great seeming company (at least in terms of their price points and product quality, I don't know anything about their treatment of staff or other issues) it makes me feel proud of our little community and even the a lot of the internet that people are willing to say "You may make great guitar products at low prices but I no longer wish to have any involvement with your business because of this donation". The world would be a better place if people were more willing to live by their ethics and not by their wallets.
That said, I can sort of understand the point of view of not being bothered by the donation, particularly when that view is based on seeing the business and the owner as seperate entities. But I can't see how you can not be bothered by that but be bothered enough by people wanting to boycott the company to comment on it. The only logical thing I can think of to back it up is that people with that stance likely agree with the donation itself and are against gay marriage which is an irrational view point anyway.
Shabba.
Thank God someone agrees with me.bubbles_horwitz wrote:saw these in the new guitar center booklet today. they're pretty ugly.
Gay people is not as big of a sin as this thing is ugly. I think everybody on here will buy any weird looking guitar with a 50's car fin styled upper horn like a jag/jazzmaster

It doesn't really have to do with danelectro. its more like, I dont like Prop 8, homosexual people should be able to marry all they want. But, i am not in support of attacking people for their views, (not saying that a dano boycott is an attack BTW) my cousin in California had his garage door spray painted saying "No on 8 stop the hate" and that's way too far. That's the kind of behavior i'm talking about, not buying danelectro guitars new, sure that's fine, but its just like where does it end?James wrote:The problem is he has done exactly the opposite. I'm talking about the whole picture, on a much bigger scale.
When it comes down to it do what ever you want, i'll keep buying danelectro products if i want them. I love my dano guitar and pedals. make good stuff i'll buy it. done arguing, the internet is not serious business.

Wtf are you talking about? How is protesting against laws that discriminate "going way too far"? The point you're trying to make about respecting other people's views doesn't work in this situation. Prop 8 is stopping people from doing what they want, being against prop 8 doesn't necessarily mean you agree with them but that you think they should have the same rights as everyone else. People like the guy who owns Danelectro are not just having a view on Gay Marriage that you should respect, they are actively trying to prevent it.

How about you read and comprehend the points people are making as to why you should care, rather than just burying your head in the sand and saying "you win"?the isaac eaton wrote:lets just drop it, I shouldn't of said anything, you win. I would agree with Duo, these dano arguments are pointless.
