Love this configuration...just a black or mint guard and it's perfect.

are these just CIJs with massively inflated prices? where are all the cool colors? why is fender usa so lame?

I had thought it was probably a Classic Player version but the bridge says vintage style. So I dunno.

Cool colors are missing for sure....bummer.

Yes. So you can pay $1200 for a guitar with shit pickups, a passable trem, and a bridge that will practically throw up your strings if you strum anything heavier than say, the Police. But the neck, oh, it will look really nice.

Or, for $300 less, you could just get a classic player and have a guitar that's capable of playing more than jazz runs with all the bass removed from your tone. Tough guitar choices these days!

B&B looks gaudy to me, even on Gibsons and their ilk. Pass.

LOL at the price they want. The Japanese Fenders are fantastic guitars, but I'll never understand why certain models (offsets and '69 mustang) come with such shit pickups. It's like putting a lawnmower engine in a Corvette.

My brain totally read the title as Bed & Breakfast Jazzy. Not a shabby way to start this normally hate-charged Thursday morning.

Not to say they aren't fine guitars, nor overstate the obvious, but that's a lot of freaking money for a Japanese Jazzmaster. Was vintage-type figure not long ago. What happened to mid-level guitars having mid-level prices so as not to negate their purpose?

Well, sorry I take a hard line stance on japanese stock JM bridges. I simply will not accept a piece of hardware that can't perform. I'm not the only one who has issue with the original bridge, you know.

Who do they think is buying this shit?

I remember going on a big long rant a while back that I don't have time to repeat, but basically, Fender needs to be more like Gibson. They need to make more stuff in America, and price it accordingly. Anything with a poly finish made overseas with different pickups should be a Squier and also priced accordingly.

I won't pay USA prices for a Japanese fender with a poly finish and lame pickups. To me anything of the sort is an inferior product to the original and should not be priced as a pro level instrument.

Anyone who used to think Gibsons were overpriced must be discovering the taste of their foot right now

I'd rather have a poly finish than some toxic old fashioned shit that rubs off and reacts badly to other things, like the rubber bits on guitar stands.

I don't see why made in the US makes it any better either.

well, factories can manufacture products to different tolerances depending on what is needed by the client. true, japanese can make guitars just as well as americans but that's not what fender contracts from fender japan.

As far as I'm aware the build quality is what's supposed to be better on a MIA guitar. I'm not sure I really believe, that in this day and age, build quality can really be that different between two high end factories in the two biggest economies in the world. But I've never played any modern MIA guitars, nevermind side to side with a MIJ, so I can't say for sure, but I get the impression a lot of the difference is in people's heads.

Dudes, Fender USA makes a cut either way. Fender Japan is actually just a liscensed operation, the same company in name only (or at least it was in 2001 or whenever this book i read was published) When fedner US decides it want to import guitars, they buy them from FJapan and sell them to the 'muricans. Everybody makes some money: FJapan, FUSA, The dealer, and you. Oh, wait, no not you. You got hosed. Because you need to fix the pickups and bridge. But anyway, Then everbody continues to pay their employees and sales reps, and on we go. In this day and age the global economy is pretty well linked up.

Bad case in point, America tanks, the rest of the "developed" world begins to follow. exception China, because they dont give no fuck.
