Need halp working out part of a song for bass

I'm very bad at working things out by ear but I've managed to get this song down except one part. It happens at 1:04 and 1:57. It's probably easier to hear it on the first time. Starting from the start of the chorus (straight after the 'she looks like Bruce Lee' part at 0:55

Code: Select all

G-----------------------------------------------------------------|
D-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A-----------------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-7-7-7-7-?-?-?-?-|
E-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-------------------------------------------------|

G-----------------------------------------------------------------|
D-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A-----------------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-7---5---3-------|
E-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5---------------------------------------------3---|
It's the bit at the end of the first part I can't hear.

Is it the end of that first line you're on about?

I don't have a guitar, but it sounds like 10 on the A string to me. I'm nearly sure it's a G.

That's the one. A 'G' seems to fit, but it either sounds too low or high depending on what ocatve. The lower one sounds better but it doesn't seem right. There's a couple of other times when the guitar is playing with the bass and changes note while the bass stays in the same pattern as before so I'm not sure if just the guitar goes to the G or if the bass joins it. If the bass doesn't I'm not sure what it would play instead.

Does it jump the octave or something? So that it plays the high G, then jumps down to the low G so that it can approach the A from there?

I'll give it a proper listen later.

I think it does this:

G---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A-----------------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-7-7-7-7-7-7------|
E-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5---------------------------------------------------3-3-|

hmm sorry it seemed to mess the layout out when i posted , so the above looks wrong... but I basically mean play:

A eight times, D eight times, F eight times, E six times, G two times (low G)

OR ...

A A A A A A A A D D D D D D D D F F F F F F F F E E E E E E G G

Sorry I dunno why it wouldn't let me post the tab out without it fucking up... I am a noob to this site, apologies in being an idiot :S

Is that better?
