Squier Vista Musicmaster. The one I got offered a few weeks ago. I liked it, maybe not though but because it looks a bit shattered. The guy would have sold it too, but I decided that I need no additional guitars, so I agreed to give him that nearly new CV Duo Sonic. Don't know who made the better deal, but no additional guitar = no trouble in the household

What the fuck happened to the neck? You traded a much more valuable guitar for a broken Vista-series Musicmaster?

Not a fan of that trade at all, sorry mate. I really hope that you plan on giving it the Robroe white-out treatment. That'd make it worthwhile I suppose. All white = sex.

by german 2nd hand prices, it's no big difference about those guitars, and the Duo was just no used very often. The neck got broken when an amp fell onto it I was told. The replacement neck feels and play good, but of course it's not nearly as beautiful as the matching headstock one.

Ah, that's horrifying! I couldn't imagine watching an amp topple over onto that guitar!

So, are you going to make a project out of this guitar, or are you content with it as-is? I'm sure it sounds pretty rockin'. Those Vista-series pickups always get rave reviews.

Really? I heard the super-sonics are bland as all blandness. But the awesome body and neck more than make up for it.

I played a venus at the local shop a few weeks ago, I was underwhelmed. Neck felt nice though.

Maybe some adjustments, currently I think about renewing the pot and maybe a different pickup, but first I want to hear the current one in a band situation. Of course it would be a gas if there was any way to get the original headstock back on, or even better get an original replacement neck somewhere.

good trade. if you can't live with that neck, find a replacement that you like, and paint the headstock.

I think a Duo will be my next shortscale, or another old MM. Miss them things.

considering. maybe a little dumb question, but I read the squier MM has a 24,75 inch scale? So that would mean a Mustang neck would not do, am I right?

not unless you moved the bridge forward to compensate.

Yes, but it is a string through body construction, so it's not that easy to change bridge place ... Which other Fender / Squier guitars come with 24,75 scale? wiki only lists the cyclone. But a cyclone neck would be just as hard to find as a Squier MM neck Hell I have a nightmare of an Epiphone Les Paul Special neck on it

umm... toronado maybe? doubt you'll find one of those easily.

you could fill the holes and buy a vintage musicmaster bridge, which isn't string through. bit of a hassle though. if i were you i'd part it out and buy something else.

I see Warmoth makes 24,75 necks ... tg I have the only inofficial warmoth trader in germany here ... maybe he has one flying around.

Think I'll keep it just in case I trade or sale the guitar one day. You can't play it, but you can look at it and imagine how awesome it would look on the guitar

The replacement neck makes this officially a 25.5 scale guitar now. It needs a new setup and some fretwork, but it 'll stay.

Wasn't the Cyclone also 24.75inch scale? Wouldn't that neck work?
