Shortscale plectrums - order thread - DO YOU READY?

As mentioned in the classifieds..

The basic idea is we put a bulk order in with Dunlop and they send us lots of picks with 'shortscale.org' or something else printed on them. We can go doublesided with 'TPOR', 'Ban Mezz' or whatever on the back. It might work out at around $20 for a pack of 50 picks. We need to order at least 800, and 200 in each guage. so the first thing to do is to work out if we have enough people to do this, and what guages we'd want to order. I'd suggest that we do them in packls of 50 or maybe 25 and then order the guages based on demand.

Although I'm making this thread it will need someone in the US to do the payment/postage side of things but I'd be happy to take shipment of the UK batch and distrubute from here.

So the thing to do now is to say which guage you'd want (saying the colour is easiest) and how many you'd be down for (preferably in batches of 50). Of course you could take 50 green and 50 purple, but things like 10 of each will just make it awkward for making the numbers up and whoever ends up counting the picks to ship them out.

Place your potential orders!

I'll add that saying you want some doesn't bring any obligation to go through with it. Obviously don't fuck us about on purpose, but this is just an early 'do we have enough people to put an order in' sort of thing.

Somewhere around that. I'm not sure if the numbers I took from their site are correct. I think it will be close to that if they're not. When we get an idea of the level of interest I'll send them an email. If I can say 'I'd like to get 2000 picks, 600 green, 200... with a single colour logo on one side and single colour text on the back' it will be much easier for them to give me an accurate price and we can decide from there a little more definitely.

Ordering 50 is convenient because it means only four people need to be in to get a batch of 200, but if we have the right numbers for it there's no problem ordering 25 of a colour.

I'd be up for 25 yellow, but I wouldn't wanna get 50 'cause I just don't go through plec's that quickly. Plus, I think we should have a thread dedicated to the art options.

Again, a thread for possible artwork would be cool. I'd like a shortscale t-shirt, but I wouldn't get one if it was just the sticker art.

Ordering 25 is fine as long as it works out to 200 per colour (or near 200, I'm sure we could negotiate some switching around between members to cover it if it came to it). Obviously it needn't be 8 people doing 25 per colour, as long as there is an even number of 25 orders the 50 and 100 people will make up the rest.

Maybe we could sort out a 25 of each of the four colours (fuck orange and red) pack.
Stewart - 50 green, 50 yellow
ProgRockAbuse - 50 Purple
Mo Rawka - 25 Green, 25 Blue
Gavin - 25 Yellow
Reece 50 Blue

Running Totals

Purple - 50
Blue - 75
Green - 75
Yellow - 75
I think Mike is going to go for around 100 green from what I remember of our Doogfest conversation about this, although he may have been drunk. I'll go for something on the heavier end, maybe veen 25 each of purple blue and green if the numbers allow it. I think we're looking at what I predicted in the other thread -

Purple - 200
Blue - 200
Green - 400
Yellow - 200

but we'll see how it pans out. If we don't quite get the orders to reach those quantities We could possibly sell some afterwards in smaller numbers but at a higher price through a small shortscale shop or something like that.

You can use that image as a blank for artwork ideas. The guys at the EA forum are going with 'crap' on one side and 'not crap' on the other, with a PRF logo on both. I haven't thought too much about what we should do.

Purple - 1.14mm
Blue - 1.00mm
Green - 0.88mm
Yellow - 0.73mm
Orange - 0.60mm
Red - 0.50mm

They also do

Black: 1.35 mm
White: 1.50mm

But I don't think we'd get enough takers to order either of those. We can possibly have them made with colours that aren't standard to the gauge but I think it's more likely we'll be sticking with their colour scheme.
