I've read that the AC and RC boosters are so similar they could have just put a switch in the pedal to offer both. The price is pretty high for a booster.

I think it does overdrive as well as boost. Either way I've never cared enough to build one.

yeah, its not a boost. its the most amazing overdrive i've ever heard, and its worth every penny of the 186 dollars it sells for. I sooooo want to build a clone its not even funny.
