Paint and bake

I took the day off to paint my truck bumper before summer gets away from me completely. I might have slept in a little, from being worn out and sunburned from this weekend.

On Sunday I had hammered out the dent and added a few layers of RAGE filler. I visited a fiberglass shop as a teen and I still remember the smell. Toxic, yet alluring. I wore a respirator in the fierce heat. I had been worried about the filler being hard to sand, but it was almost like wood filler. If I'd had more time, I could have made it look better. It's a little lumpy, but keeps the rust out. Acrylic paint dries really quickly. I can see why the world moved on from nitro. I hope it doesn't affect my truck's toneZ.

While the layers were drying, I was standing around in the heat, so I put some final coats of clear on a few projects. Some others are already ripe to wet sand. I am going to have all sorts of shit ready to wire, which is the bottleneck. SORRY TO BE A TEASE.

Later on I cleaned the house, the shop, made scratch pizza and cookies and watched the kiddo while my wife was out with a GF.

interestingly, he used to live in a housing estate dubbed 'spam valley', as everyone who lived there was mortgaged up to the hilt and couldn't afford to eat properly. fur coat and nae knickers.

and yes, scotland. edinburgh to be precise, one of the most expensive places in the UK to live. hence the spam, presumably.

sorry, that may have come across bitchier than i intended.

but sometimes it annoys me that the general english (particularly the southern half) opinion of scotland is that it's populated by mud hut-dwelling troglodytes that eat nothing but offal and cabbage, while their own country is built upon angel's hair and unicorn tears, and everyone lives in a sumptuous country pile and dines out on roast leopard every night.

like, for some reason people talk about glasgow like it's fucking sierra leone, meanwhile there are places in south london that even the police won't go. it begins to grate on me after almost 30 years of being constantly sneered at by people who need to have a good look around themselves before they let loose their opinions.

I took it as banter but cos I was playing up on that very reputation you just described I can imagine why it pissed you off. Sorry bout that. I don't think people like Frankie Boyle is doing much to help the image of Scotland at the moment either. Pretty much every one of his set jokes starts and ends with Glasgow or Scotland in general being shit, and he probably gets more exposure than any other Scot celebrity on non-sports programmes on English television. He's still the best comedian in the circuit though I think.

God, massive derail there. Sorry!

i wasn't really pissed off, but had just got back from a slap up meal and had imbibed a couple of glasses of van rouge and as a result was probably a bit more bilious than usual, hence what appears to be a slightly catty tone on that first reply.

anyway, back to the subject in hand- DGNR8 teasing us again with pictures of guitars...

i'm especialy intrigued to see how that gretsch turns out, more pictures please!
