I'm currently running a Hughes & Kettner Tubeman into my Fender Hot Rod DeVille. Tone's pretty good, and it cuts through nice, but I'm having a few issues with it. 1-it's just a tad too brittle (H&K...really?). 2-It doesn't have a true bypass. 3-The mid-gain channel is more high-endy than the high gain channel, so switching between the two sometimes sounds odd.
The SFX-03 seems like it solves all my problems, but I just don't know how it sounds. If nothing else I can order it and send it back if necessary. I wouldn't mind the mild hassle of doing that if I had a few more opinions from actual users.

I have a hard time going by Youtube demos because so much is lost in the audio compression. It's cool to get an idea of features, but tone is tough to gauge. Thanks for the links though, I did check 'em out.

very true, but i feel like if you have a product that you own/test extensively, and then listen to a high quality youtube demo such as tone factor or PGS, you can kinda get a feel of what the differences are, and then compare that to any other product to sort of get a ballpark idea of what it'll sound like. obviously nothing compares to in-person demos, especially with your own gear, but hey, it's a start.

It's nowhere as bad as it was a while back- it was PROPER squashed and sounded horrible.
I don't think it's really all that bad- I've recorded demos and heard the pedal in the room with my own fair ears and it doesn't sound a million times worse on the Tube. It's probably more to do with the file specifics at the uploader's end.

this. proper mic-> high quality audio compression -> high quality video editing n shit -> HQ button on youtube = fairly good audio
