Bugera Amps (bought one)

Post by mickie08 »

So, I know there have been a couple threads on here, buthas anyone gotten a chance to actually play one of these.

Seeing how I am looking for new gear and the 22 watt matchless type 1x12 combo is due out in a couple weeks fro about 350 new and the Marshall plexi head is 450 and they have a 5 watter for 150....I am doing some serious thinking. I might just order the 5 watter and give it a try and then if it realy works well, pick up the 22 watter.

Any opinions/questions.

Also, the newer models don't look near as stupid as their mesa and 5150 clones do.

Hell, If they work out well, I'd be tempted to pick up the 5 watt, the 22 watt, and maybe even the plexi down the road.

They look ace. My prediction is that, like most Chinese amps, the parts they use won't stand up to the heat and voltage long-term.

That is why i was thinking of picking up the 5 watter for around the house first for a try.

Also, if I were to put a band together again and start gigging, I always used a backup amp anyways so if they make a mtachless copy for 350 instead of 2K I can afford to pick grab a back up or (used peavey classic or something.)

I've been checking out the Plexi and it sounds primo. Check out The Tone King's videos on youtube, he has like every bugera amp ever and he compares them to their equivalents, he opened up both the Bugera Plexi and a '59 marshall and compared em. As someone said, the components are probably not top notch but it's so cheap you might as well buy like 3 and then when one breaks, use the next one :P

No where near being the 5 watter you're looking at, but this guy gives an honest review of Bugera amps.

I've been gigging with the Epiphone Valve Junior for about a year and half now. No problems whatsoever. As I understand it, that's about as cheap a Chinese valve amp as you're likely to find.

+1

If you don't have personal experience, just stfu. I've seen gutshots and they are well laid out and built.

The idea that someone could produce shoddy product and still get past the STRINGENT QC and RoHS standards people have to conform to these days is ridiculous, not to mention offensive to suggest that just because the amp is made by Chinese people they're going to use the wrong rating caps or something pathetic.

Enjoy the next 10 years, because after that, this Chinese Product = Crap malarky is going to look pretty fucking stupid when they are the dominant Global Economy. It will happen, they are already kicking arse in many hightech sectors.

The chinese = crap thing is bullshit. If a product is crappy it is because a company asked the OEM to build it to a certain price point. I have an item of clothing that is the nicest thing I've ever worn and initially I was shocked to see it was made in China. Then I realised that if you ask it to be made to a certain quality then you will get a very good product.

well it`s never going to sound as good as a vintage Marshall but I'd say that for the price, these sound awful nice.

I wish he would have grown some balls and just cranked these fuckers up, instead of running a paedol in front.
I know he's just boosting the front end but can't help but wish he hadn't done that.

Thanks for the replies.

the chinese stuff does not bother me as long as the price is right. Hell the TT's, valve Jr, and ht-5 I had were probably all made in either korea or China and they were all pretty cool amps.

I think I willpick one up. If I get too impatient I might even go ahead and order the plexi clone and cab soon and then pick up the 5 and/or 22 watt later since they don't come out for a few weeks.

The other question is that if I order a head, should I get the Bugera cab or order a avatar. I now tha bugera 2x12 is suppossed to be under 200USD and I beleive the 4x12 is 249 USD. Avatars are great for the price but have gone up a little bit in price.

I dunno about the cab... I guess it would depend on wether Behringer upped its cab game after rebranding to Bugera. I used to own an Ultrastack 4x12 and it sucked painfully hard. It had these special design Jensens in it that were real flat and unexciting. The construction was very disapointing, as well. Beware, I say.

that was what I was wondering as well. I know that Behringer speakers (PA and guitar/bass) have always been crap. So I have been curious to see what they are on about for these. It would seem stupid to go to the lengths to try to reproduce these amps and then try to sell the same shoddy quality cabinets/speakers in them. 299 for a 2x12 is not expensives, but is far from the cheapest out there so I am kind of hoping that when they are released, they give some good info on them. At least I hope they are built well because I can always come across some celestions on craigslist for 40-50 a piece. Anyways, we will see.

Ok, so the speakers in these Bugera amps are NOT the same as the Behringer ones came with. Good to know. They are actually built in the Bugera plant. Reviews give them pretty decent grades so I may have to give it a shot. I will oreder one (when they are available) somehwere with a good retunr policy though for sure. Hell for 200 for a 2x12 and no tax/shipping, It can't be that bad and I can always upgrade speakers if necessary.
