i've been wanted to get some sort of pitch pedal for use on a couple of covers in the band. mainly it'd be for one octave down. just wondering if it's worth just getting a octave down pedal or get something more flexible just in case, like a PS-5 or something.
also what pedals would you recommend? thought about the behringer PS-5 clone or OC-3 clone

Doesn't the digitech WHAMMY pedal do both?

the whammy would be cool, but after something that won't take up too much pedalboard space

micro pogs are amazing, They track extremely well. The big problem with them is there isnt that many options, just one octave up, down, and your dry signal, you can blend them together though and get some cool sounds. Also whammy's are very fun to play around with.

If you want octaves alone and polyphony, go for the Micro Pog- best octaver out there. I'd choose that over the Boss octavers, although the newer one has a lot of options:
If you want a lot more stuff and aren't too fussed about having simultaneous up AND down octave shifting, go with the PS-5 (or maybe the Behringer copy, it gets close). There's too many reasons not to go with a Whammy, unless you want one if it's own sounds.

If you're wanting to do it on the PROPER cheap, the OC-2 can be had for not much used and the Arion octaver (more or less a OC-2 clone) is even cheaper. Tracking isn't great below the 5th fret though, ideally you'll be using your neck pickup around the 12th fret straight into the box for the best tracking. Or even better, with a compressor just before it.

I would say go balls out and get a pog2. If you can't justify it and only need an octave up it down with blend go with a behringer.

Based on my limited, but recent experience: don't buy a bluebox.

I'd have thought a Whammy would take up less space than a PS-5 and an expression pedal?
The Whammy must have it's own power lead though, which is a bloody nuisance. It's some daft rating as well.

whammy isn't that bad of a way to go, it'll do way more things than you'll need it to though

I've not put them side by side or owt, but I'm pretty certain the Whammy is bigger- depends on the size of the expression pedal you use, I guess.
At least you can put the exp pedal wherever you want in the case of the PS-5, I used to play with mine off the pedalboard.

It'd be toss if you're on a dark stage, or somewhere with a hyperactive lighting guy.
