only single channel, doesn't clean up well. But from what I hear very pedal friendly and a real RAWK bringer.

Looks nice too...

Not exactly loved on this here forum- they make the preamp gain stage far too hot, so you have to sacrifice volume to get anything close to a clean sound out of it. Soooo, dunno how that'd be pedal-friendly really- unless you just want to boost it or stick some stuff in the FX loop.

Coming from the sovtek Mig 60, my 2 channel options are Dirty and Dirtier and I'm completely satisfied with it. For $199 I'm sure there's a rawker out there that this would appeal to.

100w valve is overkill in MOST situations so you can never get the best out of the amp when pushing it because in most situations you probably won't be able to push it that much.. if you want crisp cleans and very loud go 100w solid state, but then i guess if you need the dirt and like that in a tube amp you need two amps. but rehearsing with two guitarists who both had 100w valve amps with 4x12" cabs ..it's too much for most 'rock' bands, amps get mic'd anyway at gigs, pushing a 50w valve amp sounds so much nicer than a 100w valve only half open.

yeah, they are supposed to be great for a base for modifications. For awhile you could by the head and matching cabinet (4x12) for 399 shiped to your door.

I kinda like it, one trick pony and all. But it does my favorite trick.

From what I've read they don't clean up period without mods.

for what it is, it's a bargain. If you're in a punk band and need an amp... it's sort of a no brainer.

I was trying to be the bigger man, but Aen went and told the whole school.

I'd actually consider this head for an overdriven bass amp. Throw it on 2X15 and cause some earthquakes.

15" cabs are so nice for bass too...so much yummy mids, i got a 4x10" ampeg cab when i was still playing bass in a band and though i liked it just fine, i found with my old ampeg 15" combo you could get this sound..i dunno, maybe it's just my bad taste but i thought because it didn't sound so 'sterile' as 10" it sounded more..not dirty..but like, more mids so more growl..i can't describe it. always lusted after some sort of 15" + 12" setup though, that would be perfect for bass, i think there's mesa cabs that have it in one cab ? i'm not a tool fan but his setup i could kill for. cept for the 'modern' wal bass.

I used to have a 1x15 cab and a 2x10 cab for bass. That was a nice setup as far as speakers went. Also, for smaller shows/jams I could just ahul the 2x10 cab.
