i think the only beef with it is that it has to be first in line, doesn't like other pedals being before it. i had one and wish i still had it. really nice pedal.

The Double Muff is more of a fuzzy distortion than a 'proper' fuzz, per se.

The band my punk band toured with used one with a Jagmaster and Hotrod Deville 410 and it sounded preeeetty good, but coulda done with a tone control to make it sit better against the bypassed sound.

The metal muff is a better pedal the the double muff I think, more distortiony than fuzzy I guess but I think it's got more range. Don't let the metal monicker fool you.

Not a fuzz. That's a Distortion.

I'd quite like the fuzz factory but without the gimmics... the wirey zing with plenty of sustain... no mud !!

Also like the Octavio but don't want the octave type effect... hmm...

I think I'll keep watching the fuzz documentary.

For both of those sounds at the same time, Zvex octane 3, one of my friends has one, they are really cool pedals. You can make it sound like a fuzz factory (no oscillation) and a big muff, and an octave fuzz.

I say fuzz. Don't get the double muff, I've never been that impressed with them. I forget what pedals you've already got, but the Dano French Toast is an amazing octave fuzz, and a neat little (I say little, it sounds fucking HUGE) fuzz when not in octave mode. Muffs are great user friendly and distinct sounding fuzzes - the Little Big Muff is much better than the standard NYC reissue, very user friendly and can be picked up for cheap. Or (slight spam approaching) the Zoom Ultra Fuzz does lots of interesting things, from subtle fuzzface, via beefy muff, to all-out oscillation, and I just happen to have one I'd be up for trading, if you've any interesting swaps.

schizofuzz, rich droning sort of fuzz with the right knob all the way open, becomes a fuzzy crickkkket with the right knob not wide open. don't get something everyone else has, pick one that is fun to have to tame and get people asking where the fuck that sound came from.
all of mcs is built around this pedal, not many pedals that have that power to make you do that

It's a distortion, soft-head.
