what kind of traynor head? probably my favorite head i ever owned was an all-tube traynor head i had just before Saturday's Child broke-up. That fucking amp OWNED. only got to play it out once before i had to sell it to pay baby-related bills...serfx wrote:my bass player is currently looking at one of these as a tour rig.
his current setup is a traynor head and cab (not a fridge though)
figure move to twin combos for the guitars and one of these for the bass, we could tour in a fucking minivan

these amps really do look pretty fucking awesome.

I've played some really amazing solid state bass amps. In fact I'm not someone who thinks you hbe to have tubes in your bass signal at all. I've also plyed some incredibly awesome tube bass amps. I've played trough old, vintage, new, amp modeling, etc. Want to know what I personally think effects bass tones more than anything? The fucking bass! If the pickups are shitty and dot respond to many differen frequencies well, no amp's eq can keep a certain freq from sounding thinner or having a drop in volume.
For all the shit talked on the active electronics in my AmDel Jazz Bass, those pickups pump out every single range of frequency perfectly allowing to really utilize the EQ on your amp.

Much the same here, dude. Being a deadbeat bassist without an amp for ages, I've tried out LOADS of amps. I love how Ashdowns sound with my gear and most of them don't have a tube in sight.St. Jimmy wrote:I've played some really amazing solid state bass amps. I've just played a lot of Fender (and Peavey stuff, Rob) bass stuff that sounded crap. That is all.

i've owned one solid state fender bass amp. and i was happy enough with the tone. my own problem was that two weeks after i bought it, we went into the studio to track what would end up being SatChild's last record, and the studio we laid down bass in had a vintage ampeg head and cab and it just melted my heart, so i found the closest thing to it i could afford and sold the fender bass amp to pay for it.
