SO, yeah, simple and short version: I've decided to build a Jazzmaster. Matt69vdub, who apparently lives in the same town as i do, is selling me his robert(original) Jazzmaster body. Its chambered and has some primer on it at the moment. He's letting it go for a fair price and i dig the chamerbed idea, should make for an interesting body. But anyways, robert(og) made the body, therefore its class work.
[/b]
Here is the body, i'll be picking it up tomorrow:
serfx has sent me a neck for freebies, that will go on this until i can afford/find [atleast] a bound and, preferably, blocked neck.
I was looking at an
EDEN pickguard seeing as how their cheap and fit AVRI bodies. I will be going with a Mustang bridge just on a whim, i haven't experienced any problems with my 64 jag's bridge but i'll give the mustang a try. Undecided on pickups too
PLANS:
This is what i've mustered up:

my dad, whom i will be building this with, likes this:
IMPORTANT OBSERVATION: Jazzmaster's have A LOT of parts, which means more moneys. But it'll be worth it

FUCK THAT SHIT
honestly sick of the "buy a tube amp" shit, i'm content with the amp i have now and don't see a need to "upgrade" for a tube amp.
1. I EQd it next to a blackface deluxe, DAMN CLOSE
2. It is perfectly clean at 100% volume, which is useful for me at the moment as im playing gigs that aren't mic'd up, need lots of clean headroom.
3. I would rather do a father/son build again like i did with the P-Rails tele. That was great fun and very rewarding. Plus my Dad is getting into bass/guitar stuff a lot recently so he is enjoying it more than i am, which is cool.

I'm kind of liking it more and more. A white wash finish would be cool but the silverburst thing is sweet too. Plus he likes it, he tends to have goofy taste in guitar stuff, however cool
his jazz bass may be
He is also digging the MOP guard. I think its an awefully big guard to be MOP, seems a bit much.
but he is on to something:

not so much with the silver burst, still interesting though
i'm liking white>mint aswell

Silverburst with the black guard is best. Reminds me of a Sonex.

You still need a tube amp to get the best out of your pedals. I'm all for Father/Son builds, but you really should proritise that as a purchase. You really don't know what you're missing out on, it's not like a Peavey Classic 30 is expensive.
You owe it to that Vintage Jaguar you appear to have just acquired, you lucky bastard.
In fact, I'm fucked if I'd be building a Jazzmaster if I had a vintage Jag that needed a little bit of electronics TLC.

yes, that.
Plus the "EQ next to a Blackface Deluxe" comment made me roffle.

I personally prefer hybrid amps like the cyber twin, best of both worlds. I love my amp, might be my favorite of all time. That's just me though, anyways. tube amp. silverface fender, do it.

Do what all the cool kids do and just put a LP toggle killswitch in place of the rhythm circuit- it's useless and gets in the way, and saves you having to track down all the silly fixings.
