For a while now I have had the Zvex SHO as the only booster pedal on my board as I wanted that glassy sound associated with it. This has been at the expense of the Saltbooster, though this morning (I have the day off) I stuck the Salty one back on my board and re-discovered what I had been missing!
Absolutely great sound, fat and articulate. Think it will have to stay.
Also, SHO -> Saltbooster -> Crunch Box = lots of fun.
I am not sure why this pedal has been off my board for so long...

They do sound good.

However, my favorite booster ever is the mxr micro amp. Tried this?

I haven't actually - what makes it different that you prefer?

I love it, I know I only made minor mods to it but I adore it. I use it tons with my amp and other pedals.

Tim are you using 100nF in and 47nF out? That's my current favourite combination. Bite and Articulation.

What's this revival nonsense about? Have any of you a good reason why it left your boards in the first place?

funnily enough, i've used mine this afternoon. really sounds good that you have to leave it on all the time.

Mine is used every week with Master Charger.
In fact, the boys want Mike to make a 'Master Charger Fuzz' when theres some money in the coffers. Which will be a dual pedal of Green Big Muff/Saltbooster.

Um mine has 220nF and 100nF. Sonds pretty cool to me, but I'll try both in future.

I like the Microamp for sounding really clean and kinda 'airy'. Hard to explain, but it has its own distinct clean character, not very boosty or overdrivey.

Yeah that Master Charger pedal will be awesome. BNP Graffix to boot!

Tim yours is the v1 stuff I was doing, I've matured the design a little bit more (two cap changes lolz!)

I'm actually on the look out for a booster.

Silly question, but what's the main difference between this and the electro harmonix lpb1.. why shouldn't i just go and buy that?

i'm particularly interested in how these bad boys sound mixed with some dirt pedulz. i'm using a turbo rat for rhythm and would ideally like something to kick it into crazy fuzz for leads and rhythm tones although i'm totally unsure as to whether actually buying something like an overdrive might be a better idea.

The saltbooster has a little kinda clipping thing going on which might be exactly what you want. It's not a fuzzy thing but it'll dirty up the sound a little bit more than an LPB-1.

What are you using now with regards to boost? I passed up a a £25 Micro Amp a few months ago when i thought i'd never need one. Absolutely devastated now.

So with regards to comparison of Salt Booster and LPB-1, the SB keeps the highs moreso than the LPB-1, yep?

LPB-1: Less highs, works a treat for neck pickups but not so much bridge. It's a bit cleaner but I wasn't a huge fan of the boosted sound through my tiny terror.

Saltbooster: A tiny bit less highs that the clean but not nearly as pronounced as the LPB-1. At about midnight it stars to clip a bit, making the sound sound a little more distorted than it does at the same settings on the LPB-1.

I'm still using the saltbooster, although I tend to use it to boost other things. It;s Saltbooster > Big Muff > Behringer Flanger thing > Danelectro TOD > Boss DD-3 > Marshall RF-1.

It's useful for pushing the big muff into ridiculous territory. Ive also got a bunch of fuzzes set up in a chain on the side and it does pretty well with those.
