it took about 6 hours, and a trip back to my parents so i can have the necesary work space and tools to do it - every man needs a shed!

so i've routed out the pickguard and a bit of the body underneath to fit two Seymour Duncan quarter-pounder Jazzmaster pickups.

Guitar- £110
Pickups - £30 + £50
Total cost - £190

i can't afford the time/hassle/cost of getting it resprayed in white at the moment, but after fitting the pickups i feel far less embarassed about the silver sparkle

i was expecting to use the white witch-hat knobs with the white finish but i'm not sure if they stand out too much now.. what do you think? i have some black witch hats on the way aswell to compare.. my tele will get whatever's left over.



I couldn't be happier with the sound i'm getting. neck pickup is ballsy and really punchy.. bridge is jangly, both pickups on is sonic gold. lovely percussive, even sound that is godly. :love:

for less than £200 i've got the Jazzmaster sounds i've wanted for ages, but with a nicer feeling neck and blocked off trem. job's a good 'un!

looks much better. i'd definitely keep the witch hats.

i used to love Feeder. they are pretty shocking these days though. at least i know what tortoiseshell looks like on silver sparkle now.

Classy. The witch hats work very well. A white switch tip might work well.

It actually looks surprisingly great already. I never realised how offensive I found the black humbuckers/black guard on a Jagmaster until you replaced it with nice white jazzy pickups.

And this is what I would have loved to have done if I still had my Jagmaster. Oh well, you did a tremendous job with it. That guitar looks beautiful! I'm sure it plays and sounds ace too!

That sounded really great, very mono!! I just sold my Line6 guitarport, kinda regret it now but my laptop just couldn't handle recording. Being a mono fan I guess you'll be seeing Mogwai play Colston Hall at the end of the month?

i don't really have any finished stuff just yet.. working on recording some tunes right now. all similar kind of sounding.. i've just got lots of little ideas floating around that need tidying up and re-recording. bits and pieces in different places:

thanks. i didn't realise they were touring.. i saw them a year or two ago and forgot my earplugs. my ears were fucked for a couple of days after that!

i'm not that big into them.. i've bought a few albums but can never really sit through a whole album and appreciate it like i do with Mono and Sigur Ros. same goes for GSYBE and Explosions in the sky. but Mogwai live were really interesting.. if i can afford it and tickets are still available i may go along. thanks for the heads up.

how's Plymouth? i went to Uni there 6+ years ago.. been thinking of heading back down there. are those 'Wants' pawn shops still going? i used to pick up some good cheap fx pedals from there. how's the music scene doing? it was all quite punk and extreme metal when i was there.

Literally love your stuff. If you haven't already I'd advise checking out TOMBS, I think they'd be up your alley. Sort of a harsher Isis with balls. Real long droney post-rock bits followed by brutal metal.

Plymouth is alright, don't know what's changed in the past 6 years other than the mall being there now and the city centre looking a bit better!! With regards to music there is still quite a bit more punk and metal than anything else and the White Rabbit gets some good punk and metal bands if you're into that. I've seen This Will Destroy You and Lymbyc System there who were really good so there are some decent bands playing. Wants shops are still there too, I don't really buy anything in them though, too great a markup!

I love GYBE, like mono and not as into Sigur Ros, they're all quite different really. I don't know which Mogwai albums you've tried but I can get into any of them!!

Love it. I built a similar guitar from an eBay parts deal. I had to build the guitar back up and rebuild the bridge. Used Lindy Fralin Texas Specials

these need a pseudo trem plate for no reason
