Chaps,
Anyone have any suggestions for replacement pickups which would beef up my squire duosonic?I don't fancy humbuckers, preferably something that wouldn't need the scratchplate cutting too.
Not too impressed with the neck pup tbh so i fancy changing this one for definate.
Also, there's a couple of annoying chips to the paint - can these be repaired or would the paint need stripping and the body repainting - could you get a good diy job with rattle cans and laquer?

are you talking about the classic vibe duo? I found that hard to mod. I dropped some high output strat PUs into it, but it sounded nearly the same as with the stock PUs. The anodized Pickguard and swimming pool routing really seems to determine how it sounds. Hotter pickups seem to makeit muddier, nothing else.

Maybe drop some of the gfs lipsticks in there.

Depending on how you play, I really liked the sjag-3 in my MIM duo reissue but unless you're playing with a lot of gain it can be pretty boring.

yeah. I got schooled on this not that long ago. I had figured it was teh same exact body as the MIM duo, I was waaaaaaaaay wrong. It's routed like somebody was intending to eat cereal out of it.

ReRanch.com for refinish work. They have touch up lacquer pens, dunno if they have your color.

I wouldn't refinish it. Dings and Dents, add Character.

Some guys swear they can hear the different in a 250K pot vs 500K, poly vs lacquer finish, set neck vs bolt on, brass vs ordinary bridge.... blah blah blah...

Well, loose neck pocks and swimming pools are my only 2 pet peeves.

Had the pickup covers off today and sprayed them up satin black and they've come up nice, problem is one of the wires has come loose -- anyone know what the loose wire between the two pups in the pic is supposed to connect to?

it's a ground wire. maybe a bridge ground.
