I need an amp. in the $250-250 range. I would like it to be tube, but my funds will probably not cut it. What I am really focused on is a good sparkly clean tone. A good distortion is not needed, I have a RAT2 for that. I want it relatively loud (small gigs loud). I know nothing about solid state amps so any suggestions are welcome. I'll be playing it with a jaguar and a firebird VII.

Bugera v22? loud, all tube, pretty good cleans, and i believe you can get the combo for $350. Its a bit outside your price range, but its a damn good amp for that price. OR you could get the v55 head for the same price if you already have a cab

I looked into those briefly, Mike just got a v55, no?

Are they british made? I could only find em on fleabay.

I too am looking for a nice simple clean tube amp. I don't even really use the eq on my super champ xd cause I find it sounds best when I don't use it. So maybe something like a louder pro junior? Just a volume and a presence knob or something like that would suit me just fine.

Cheap and clean, A used Hotrod Deville or deluxe might fall into your price range. Check craigslist. I love my hotrod deville 2x12.

I could probably get a Bugera V22, I like what i've seen of them.

Peavey made a couple amps that are variants of twin reverbs.....they go VERY cheap on CL.

One is all tube, one is more like the musicman amps with a solid state preamp and a tube power amp. I can't recall their model names but do a CL search for "Peavey tube" and you'll find something.

I have seen a couple of their old "classic" 50 watters (before they went tweed) for super cheap as well.

Also check out Carvin, ampeg, sovtek, old traynor, and musicman.
You might find a Sunn beta lead or concert solid state in your price range as well and they sound great. Cabs can be found very cheaply too.

$250 is tight....it you can get up to $350 you'll have some options. Craigslist is your friend.

Most of the newere Bugera stuff becomes available over here in the next 2 weeks. Look for qpons. Musicn 123 was running 20% off on them until last week which would have put the v22 in your range.

i think the only ones he'd be likely to get in his price range would be something like the JC55 and they're not particularly clean sounding.

i could have bagged a jazz chorust for liek $300 at that ham radio thing in Dayton. i was pissed because i didn't have $300.

Have you looked into Fender solid state amps in the frontman series? You could probably find a used Frontman 65R or a Frontman 212R for around your price range. Plenty of power and clean channel.
