i has classic vibe P-bass

i decided a while ago that i wanted a new bass, having never really got along with my old musicmaster. it was actually quite hard to play with its typical 70s fender BEAST of a neck, and i never liked those bridge saddles much, plus i actually prefer full scale basses. also, for the amount that i actually use a bass, i thought sitting on a vintage fender was a bit daft. so, out it goes.
i went up to red dog music today with (pretty much) the intention of walking out with a squier vintage modified precision (the white one with black guard). i thought i might as well do a comparison with the CV precision while i was there, and came to the conclusion after about 3 seconds that it was a much nicer instrument. as well as the sonic blue body colour the neck has a decent tint to it, whereas the vintage mod one had a neck that just looked kind of... unfinished. i prefer non-glossy necks, but there's non-glossy and there's half-arsed. soundwise they really weren't all that different, so in the end it came down to feel and aesthetics. the vintage mod one looked and felt like a £200 bass, whereas the CV seems much more like MIM quality. a bit more expensive, but totally worth it.
so.... when i got it home and had a play about i knew i'd chosen correctly. i'm really pleased with it. i got it for £280, and that included a gig bag and strap, which i think is an ok price. if i'd ordered online i could have got it cheaper, but probably without the extras, and by the time you add on shipping it wouldn't really have made much difference. and i have it now.
i'm not going to bother demo-ing it, as mike's one covers all the ba(s)ses, but i'll post a few pics once my camera battery has finished charging... watch this space.
(you've all seen them anyway, but a few more piccies won't hurt anyone!)
