Help! Broken pedal?!

OK.. so I have a Boss RC20-XL. The twin pedal looper. I'm running it on batteries and when I turn it on (by plugging a jack into the output) all the lights on it start flashing and it doesn't work. I thought maybe the batteries were low... so today I changed them with 6! brand new batteries... its the same! LEDs flashing all over the shop.

What should I do? Email Boss? Is it fixable? Take it apart and have a look?

:(

The RC20 is going to look like the inside of a computer when you open it up. Is it still under warranty? Might be worth it to send it to Boss/Roland. Unless it's a broken wire in there, you probably aren't going to be able to fix it unless you are very competent with fixing digital pedals plus you may void the warranty by opening it up.

I was thinking the same... its probably the worst pedal to try fixing myself! A few of the guys on here are good with pedals and stuff, i thought if i opened it up and took photos they could maybe spot something dodgy. But it could be a waste of time..

I bought it ages ago, warranty is probably out of date. I will try and find out though.

Dan, while I would love to say we could figure it out, it's highly unlikely given it's a digital pedal. I've made and designed a few of them, but there's no way I'd want to deal with a digital pedal. There's just too much going on.

It's quite possibly a dodgy wire or solder joint, but that kind of shit is really really hard to diagnose over the internets.

Best bet would be to get one of the UKers here that's handy with a soldering iron allow you to ship it to them.

Update! I emailed Boss/Roland UK at the same time i posted this thread. They got back to me today. They gave me details of a guy who can fix it..
Please find below, contact details for a Roland/Boss repair centre that can carry out the work. The engineer provided is highly recommended by Roland UK Ltd.
Hopefully it will be fixed soonish! I need to give him a ring. Looks like i will be paying for it though..

Aren't Boss pedals 5 year transferable warranty?

I think you need to apply for extended warranty free.... prob within the first year though but worth checking..

RC-20s are crazy things... isn't there a reset button...
