Trying to play this melvins song:
http://www.fretplay.com/tabs/m/melvins/ ... -tab.shtml
Seems easy, but I cannot for the life of me get the timing down. I have listened to it 100 time over and I have no problems with the god damned power chords but I can't play along to the god damned song. I can't figure Buzz's strumming pattern out. It doesn't seem to go along with this tab... it seem a little all over the place to be honest.
Can any one help? Is this tab wrong? What am I doing wrong? WHY DO I SUCK SO BAD? I HATE THIS INSTRUMENT!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...
Can't even play easy ass power chord songs... I should just give up, yeah?

never use tabs for rhythm. write down what chords you should be playing and then just play along to the song.
and it never really hurts to just do your own thing. if it sounds like how you think the song should sound, then you're fine.

Upload the song by itself (bandwidth is capped, I can't really use youtube or download anything larger than a couple of MB), and I'll work out the rhythm for you. I'll write it down as plainly as possible, and explain how to read what I've written.

I worked out how to play Collusus by Lightning Bolt a couple of days ago. Not the best song on the album but very fun to play still. I can right it up if you want.

Nice one. I'm off to bed, I'll check back tomorrow. It might be an idea to pm me the link, rather than post it in the open.
I'm looking forward to this now. It'll be good practise. I need to get better at writing rhythms down from ear.

I think part of the problem is buzzo's signature sludgy tone. It's hard to make out chord changes as it seems to all flow together.

tune your guitar to drop C, but I had mine like CGCGCC (in terms of low to high thats down, down, down, same, up, down) and then you barre across the low three strings or even all 6 if you tuned it like i did and it goes like this...
C--0---0-------0-0--7---5---3---3------3-3-5--7--5-|--0---0-------0-0--5---5---3---3------3-3-5--7--5-|
and then after a while the second bit goes like
C--0---0-------0-0--5---5---3---3-----3-3-3--10--12--10--12--|
and the bit later in the song you sort of just go
C--12-----10-12-10--|
The spacing is only rough for the rhythm and the amount of notes isn't exactly right. Also I wasn't properly listening when I did it, just playing what sounded roughly right. Set a dirt pedal so that if you play soft it's fairly clean and if you hit quite hard you get a full on fuzzy tone and play the intro soft then rock out.

I just youtubed the song and that tab is awful, I don't think even the tabber knew what guitar part he was trying to work out.
I tabbed out some of the two guitar parts just for the intro, if it'll help.
I cannot write rhythm into tabs to save my life so these are just the chords. Hopefully the rhythm will make more sense with the right chords. If I had guitar pro installed I'd try and do the tab in there to get the timing right but I don't.
If the two chords are particularly close together I made it so in the tab.

2 guitarists! Power trio my ass, Melvins = Green day!
That could explain my trouble, trying to figure out two guitars parts on one guitar. There are long standing rumors that teh kurdtz recorded some backing guitars with the melvins on Houdini... wonder if this is one of those tracks. It's been verified by Buzzo that he played the real watery guitar on sky pup at least.
So it's not that I'm a total guitTARD? those tabs were actually pulled out of someones bung hole?

They're sort of for the right (really fucking quiet, hence my trouble with widdly bit) guitar. The last bit of them however is kinda for the left guitar but wrong.

I wish I could work stuff out from listening to it. I've don it on 2 songs ever (Negative Creep & 20th Century Boy) but in general I just can't do it

I have a hard time with negatiev creep, I fuck up the timing on the slide. That's super retarded considering how easy that song is. A testament to my suckiness.
