Anybody know anything about these things? I found pics but they seemed to be later models, more like '67 or '68. It is for sale locally for $200. I thik this could be a good deal depending on condition. I'm not entirely convinced that they were even made in '54 so this dude may be totally full of shit. '54 Coral Firefly, hollow bodied guitar w/lipstick pups.

At the time, Danelectro sold about 85% of it's products to Sears. So MCA started the Coral line to sell to other distributors. The difference was the Coral hollow bodies (only) were manufactured in Japan. All other Coral parts were made in the New Jersey Danelectro plant. Also all Silvertones and Danelectro instruments were made entirely in the U.S

Yeah, I don't even have the scratch to buy one at $200. I was attempting to get my boss(who doesn't play guitar but owns 4 or 5 guitars) to buy it so I could buy it off him later. He's pretty easy to talk into that sort of thing. I have an Art & Lutherie acoustic that he gave me in return for lessons. He has yet to come over to get schooled by me so it's free so far.
