old news, they have been out since early june,
i got to play a sunburst one at a samash in hollywood.
its just like a jap but with b&b, and they tinited the shit out of the binding so it doesn't stick out, looks weird, and the dots are in the wood rather than the binding.
not worth the asking price.

Yeah, these were a limited release in the US. I like a lot about them, just wish (as usual) that they would have branched out a bit with finishes. They have a more vintage-correct fret size and radius IIRC, which is what I prefer. I would have loved to see some custom colors, anything in a blue or green of some sort would have been fantastic.

They look nice but they're just priced way high for a cosmetic difference.

agreed. overpriced. Nice, but costly. If you don't mind shelling out the cash, go ahead. They're well made.
You're gonna wanna swap the pups though. The stock Jag pups aren't as good in them CIJ/MIJs

This is just an import of a Fender Japan model that has been out for a while right? Also didn't the Fender Japan model have a matching headstock?

This is what I've been wondering. I think there's a run without matching headstock too, but surely that'd have a different code, something 66 still?

i find it a bit annoying that retailers have started calling the CIJ ones 'classic' whatever. it's just going to lead to confusion.

That's another thing that threw me a bit. I thought at first I'd missed a new CP blocked and bound Jag D: Bloody sake.

Is that not the 'Big Block 66'? Like THIS?

It says only 50 of each colour were put out in Europe. America maybe had a similar deal. Japan probably have hundreds though :P

It's confusing as hell (why are we surprised?)

- BIG BLOCK '66 - matching headstocks
- CLASSIC '66 (blocks & binding, no matching headstocks)

on all of them the binding is wrong (dots at join to maple, not in binding)

The BIG BLOCK 66's i have seen DONT have the matching headstocks though.

example: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=11460

EDIT..
hang on. in the text it says it does have a matching headstock. but the 3TS colour doesnt. AHHH

The newer non-matching headstock ones are supposed to be limited to a certain # of each colour (in Europe anyway) Though I reckon that'll probably just be a way of saying "we'll see how they sell". NOne of the ones I've seen in shops over here have had matching headstocks, but that might've changed with more recent versions. It's hard to keep track of them all!

Mike I think you're becoming obsessed with the dots. The non binding ones are all over the shop too. Some are white and on the rosewood, black on the maple and I have one thats white and half on half off. The binding on the vintage is about 6mm and it's only 4.5 on the modern versions so the overall look is totally different.

As far as I know there's never been a Jaguar made MIM.
