Don't think this has been posted before, but Marshall have released yet another series of amps - the MA line.
A "cheaper" all valve line apparently with a 50 and 100W 2 channel head and combo.
MA 100H £599
MA 100C £663
MA 50H £480
MA 50C £548

Eeeenteresting! I guess they've just gone with the cheaper Valvestate/MG/AVT enclosures to cut costs?
Checking out the vids..

Still seem pricey to me but yeah, good for Marshall.

£480 list for a new 50w 2x12 valve amp isn't toooo bad; the 100w model has another speaker, hence the price jump.
But yeah, they're hardly budget.

Aye, that's what I was thinking. I suppose this is what I would have expected to pay for an all valve Marshall before the price increases.

sounds PERRDY GOOD!
even the 50w head around the $750 range is still out of my reach at the moment but its a nice sounding marshall head.
a more extensive footswitch would have been nice, like so [Channel > Boost > Reverb > Effects Loop] or something like that.

this is getting brought.
50 combo with gain switching on the footswitch. i'd be able to gig without pedals, maybe delay in the fx loop.
i bet my local shop will let me part ex my tweed too.

That'd only drive the price further up really, and make it less of a "low end" series.

wow, sounds pretty good but it's like getting a Porsche Boxter: You can't quite afford the 911. I have a feeling that if someone buys this they'll be kicking themselves for not waiting a bit longer and getting a JCM2000 or even a Vintage Modern.

which is kinda the position i'm in. i want a VM or JCM 800, but there is no way i have the cash for one. i could sell my tweed, but run the risk of being amp-less for a while. if gigs come up, i'm fucked. this could be a way of getting a marshall that has a similar vibe to what i'm after, but more affordable to me.

WHO deleted my post?
Bastards
The only problem with using the lead channel on a small cranked Marshall is its noisy, especially for your setting Rob. I'm in a fairly noisy band and its irritating at times, much smoother operation using external pedals.
If you end up ampless i should have something ye can borrow.

The covers band your with at the moment. In my experience 'cover bands' want the guitarist to behave. Im saying onboard Overdrive can get noisy on a smaller amp.

Come and try mine if you like, you'll here what i mean. Its okay on the OD channel but the Lead channel is noisy when you stop playing. Mind you, i'm deaf as fuck and turn everything up

I'm skeptical of the newer marshall valve amps...
I was in line to buy a Haze 40, it came in... faulty within a week, sent back and returned... faulty within a week again !!
It sounds great which is a real shame, they do seem a little toy-like though.
