As you may be gathering by now, depending on which guitar Squire used he would use a certain pedal combo. If he used the strat it would be tube screamer and fuzz face. This is again the case here. A delay is used at the start and for the verses it is a 2 tap ambient delay which means absolutely nothing to me! All I know is that there are about 3 repeats. The slightly overdriven sound is deployed again with the addition of the fuzz face for the chorus and solo section. A reverb is used for these parts as the delay would make things a bit muddy with the fuzz face on. For the end guitar parts the flanger is added to the equation to launch things off into the stratosphere!

I have a big muff, but i dont know what the settings would be on a big muff
to create that.
Getting my dream guitar is gonna have to wait. Ive thought about it and it
really only concludes to me getting that guitar to make the sound.
Thanks Shortscale

The flutter is his Gretsch country gent bigsby, as for FX, it sounds like his Ibanez CS9 as its definitely in other parts of this song. I dare say with his Tubescreamer as well, if its the Fuzz Face he's rolled the guitar volume off.
You want a decent Germanium Fuzz Face clone, loads of companies make them, try before you buy though!

the fuzzface he used was the Crest Audio reissue. Crest Audio was formerly known as Dallas Arbiter or they absorbed Dallas Arbiter at some point. They were the first to reissue the FF in the mid to late 80s. It is a silicon FF using BC109C transistors.
He's also probably playing a guitar with humbuckers. probably the neck pickup. there's multiple tracks of guitar there. and it's recorded to a tape machine which would have bumped the low end and added a little saturation and compression.

he pretty much always has the tubescreamer on.

If Fran guessed that, its pretty brilliant.
He used the Tubescreamer and CS9 for the main stuff, and the Fuzzface for stuff like Chorus and Solo's. He
used a flanger for live stuff as well.
Anyone have any recommendations as to what pedal can get something close to a Crest Audio Reissue?

Nah, i did'nt guess it. I've been trying to get his sound for years and studied it to a degree, but i cant afford the Gretsch.
Mage said the Crest was silicon which surprises me, so if his source is correct you basically want something with the same schematic using BC109C transistors.

You can definitely hear the FF kick in on this live footage, he's using the Pink Strat here as well. Obvious Flanger on the outro.

I dont like Gretsch to be honest, they sound mint though. My mate has a Country Gent, its a fucking huge thing with a huge sound. I bet that Eastwood sounds nothing like one.

Yeah, i'd say so. Its just a thick distortion, but the Tubescreamer is probably retaining some note clarity. I know this because i always use a Big Muff and Tubescreamer together, they are one extreme to the other, together they sound great. It may even be Compression, if i remember rightly he used a Comp pedal as well.
Do you have a Chorus?
RIGHT, lets start again. You need:
Fuzz/Big Muff
Overdrive
Compressor (maybe)
Chorus
Do you own them?
I think you will get close with them pedals but be sparing on Gain and use the chorus subtley with the rate setting low.

The Maxon is built on the orignal Tubescreamer, so its as close as it gets.
Small clone gets the job done.
Big Muff is present.
I got the correct settings on the Maxon(5,5,3). I got 3 because i aint playing a gig so theres no need to go higher.

Tho John used a Twin Reverb, i got the Deluxe.
Using a Fender Jaguar CIJ 66 reissue.

I built a fuzzface with the BC109Cs (you can get them at small bear). It's probably not completely original Crest Audio specs but it's seems to sound alright.
ahah.... the LED isn't hooked up to the battery yet.

also, I disagree with that pdmcauley.co.uk/guitaristpages/ guy on some things. most of the time he is not playing the bridge pickup. he's playing the neck pickup. if you watch videos of him playing you see he plays way down by the bridge. that's how he gets that chimey sound but it's still really full sounding, not tinny. also, I don't think he has the tubescreamer gain up to 5. it sounds like it's all the way down to me
