And the bypass is very, very poor for a pedal of that expense.

Don't suppose it's worth cloning something like this, no?

Nope. Bags of chips in these pedals. Complicated as all hell.

Also - fuck these pedals.

I thought as much.

Why the "fuck these pedals" though?

They're pretty much a blight on Moog's legacy. Overpriced, don't sound that good. They look stupid. I think they're incredibly shit.

Some of them are cool designs though, I would say the Freqbox is one of them, although personally I have no need for this sound.

To be honest, I have no idea what any of them do. I remember reading reviews of three of them in Guitarist magazine about six years ago. I didn't know enough to make sense of the reviews, and I haven't looked since.

I think they look cool though.

Actually they were some of the last thigns he worked on, sound great, and have perfectly fine bypass. Expensive, yes. They're really quite a crossover machine, work best together or wiht a synth setup. Imagine trying to find synth modules as versatile for the same price. Not going to happen.

The ones I've played were dark as all hell in bypass. I'm not surprised you don't mind that though, given that you don't exactly use bright guitar sounds.

Maybe not on what you've heard, but I think that's mostly due to my microphone. Im a pretty Full Frequency guy, hence the Twin. Or it could be because I've always had a telecaster/nail gun driving my pedal chain. Plenty of trebs.

As I recall, some of the Foogers are true bypass while some are buffered. But I don't know which, I just remember reading it in a manual.

Not that it really matters, neither one of us has ever changed our opinion on gear, as far as I know

Not true. I've changed my mind a bunch.

I can reel off 3 Saddle Bridges, Fuzz, Behringer, and Vintage instruments as things I have had my mind changed on.

well really, moogerfoogers are stunning pedals. their sound quality is honestly impressive. to my ears they are some of the best sounding pedals out there thus i dont find them overpriced. i am not aware if moogerfoogers are the ticket to some snob owners club but they are quality stuff. and actually, they improve the signal without even being turned on, thats true. they are not true bypass (maybe some? i don know) so the signal goes constantly through the circuit, applying a soft compression making the sound 'more round' in a way.
