Sounds good to me, paint ZVEX or Devi Ever on the case and bobs your uncle.
Come monday i'm going to bend my SD-1, if it sounds okay i might tape it to the face of my guitar with kurdt tape and use it onboard. I might even wear ripped jeans at gigs.

lemme know how that goes.
since i got cowbells sd-1, i'm curious (not enough to peruse youtube) to see what the bent ones sound like.

Dude, that Arion I got from you fucks a DS-1 in it's rainbowbutthole... I'm not sure why you gave that thing up. It's currently my third most used pedal behind thunder and MBM gender blender.

I know it wasn't the main factor in his sound, but how is it that Kurt Cobain achieved such a good (well, at least interesting) tone using DS-1 and DS-2 pedals? I think a lot of In Utero was a Twin Reverb being hit with a DS-2, and I know he used the DS-1 on at least some of Nevermind and live.
I used to own one of these, and while I don't especially miss it, I don't exactly remember it being TERRIBLE. For its application as a basic dirt pedal, it did pretty well without dropping out the mids or getting too fizzy. (The trick was to keep the gain knob between 9 and 12 o'clock.)
Anyone else not get the hate the Ds-1 always gets?

I like it. It's cheap, well built and is a great introduction to adding dirt to your signal. It's a decent enough first buy distortion that most kids can afford and play with. OK, we all generally ditch it later on for something more exotic but I don't think the DS1 deserves all the hate it gets.

i'm actually a fan of the ds-1. everybody knows it's a decently cheap pedal. and i mostly think that level of distortion and the distortion sound are a matter of preference. this suits my style of playing.

Always liked the DS-1 but when I used it in a band context, I would just get washed out and hear nothing from my amp.
I had an old japanese one that I sent to Skip (I think) that sounded epic at home by yourself playing smells like teen spirit, but that was the extent of its use for me.
They're affordable, but with a Dano-FUzz in the price range, I'd say go get'em Dano.
