Post by GreenKnee »

Hi I'm new, found this place while looking for info on my new guitar, a Japanese Fender 1966 Reissue Big Block Jaguar.
Cant find much online about this guitar anywhere.

Found it online, apparently its one of fifty that are being released into Europe. I've never seen one like it in person, with the block inlays and the binding, only on tv! I love how it was setup, I usually play with 11s, but it came with stock 9s on. I was thinking of changing gauge and getting it setup, but why, when it plays so well as it is?

Anyway, here's a picture!! Sorry about the bad quality, I dont have a decent camera.

My name's Jack by the way :p

Welcome. Beautiful guitar despite my hatred of burst!

Needs 13's. ;)

Well, it was burst, or antique red... And the burst just looked so much nicer than the red, so the burst won!
SHame they don't do this model in olympic white, but I suppose that just means I'll have to buy another

Seen it online for a little bit cheaper, but this was only a 20 minute drive away from where I live

As a very impatient person myself once I want something, this is a factor I can appreciate.

Also being able to actually wrap your hands around it pre-purchase goes a long way to justify paying more.

Exactly :)
And it came with the hardcase included, which they dont usually come with. SO I suppose that makes up the difference

i like the looks of them but i have gripes about them.
i played one in hollywood(got to plug it into a bassman 100 too)
they put the dots are put into the neck rather than the binding, and the binding is tinted WAY too much for my liking, but those are small things.
i really don't like that the electronics are the stock jap styled stuff. i would hope for that the price hike they would have shielded it better, used a bit higher quility pots and wire, but, that is easily changed.
either way, thats a nice fucking jag man, and as long as you are happy thats really all that matters.

I wish the models I like were offered with B&B necks, I really like the way they look on these guitars.

The tinting is there cos it's supposed to look like an aged unplayed guitar. The binding on vintage Jags is only white because the nitro finish has completely worn off. If you look at the body end of the neck where there are remains of the nitro finish you'll see that it's actually very accurate (see old pics of mine) You'll also see plenty that are just white all the way round cos some noob cleaned off the "dirty bits". Here's mine, there was another on here or offset recently that was even darker. The old nitro is very thin and delicate on well played vintage guitars and is very easy to clean off.

Obviousy the finish won't wear on the reissues any time soon so quite a few people have taken to sanding them. Yeah the dots are wrong cos the binding isn't as deep.

Is this one routed for the mute under the bridge?

Hi again,

Yeah the binding is tinted pretty much the same as the neck, but is then white on top where it meets the fret board.

And no, this model doesnt come with the mute, sadly, they're cool as!
