Guitar Reissue Dreams

Post by taylornutt »

What currently discontinued guitars or series of guitars or amps would you like to see Fender reissue or bring back? I know this might include some non shortscales but why not.

I would like to see the Squier Supersonic, Fender XII, and Competition Mustangs (along side the current Mustangs). Maybe the whole original Vista Series for that matter.

starcaster.
i absolutely love the way starcasters look.

unfortunately i expect that if they ever did reissue it, it'd be some expensive custom shop limited run thing.

Fender Electric XII ( why this was discontinued is beyond me, as it seriously is one of the best electric XIIs ever)
Fender Bass VI
Accurate Big Block and D & B Jazzys and Jags w/ proper headstocks, binding and MIA
Fender Coronado II and the Coronado Bass II
Fender Starcaster
Guild Starfire III and IV (once again accurate)
Guild Starfire bass

+1000%

IMO they are the best looking semi-hollow body guitar with the offset and cool painted headstock

Bronco. and make them come in cool colors and pickguards. like CAR, LPB, IBM, etc. pickguards like tort, pearl, mint.

but more realistically...

Duo Sonic II (how hard would this be? it's just a hard tail mustang.)
Music Master II or 70s Musicmaster
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...

The electric Xii was discontinued because rickenbacker had the 12 string market.
and by the time the xii came out 12's popularity were kinda waning.
the only people that really played xii's that i can remember are lou reed, sterling morrison, and tom petty.
think of the list of rickenbacker players.
but that is a good list, but if all that got reissued, then you still wouldn't be able to buy one because fender prices anything like that through the roof.

i would say reissue everything. i mean, what do they have to lose now? all the do is strats anymore.
then they'll know what will fail and last the second time around.

Duo sonic II. It could be a mexi Fender or something
like just one step up from the classic vibe.

There are so many of these vintage and recent(when Fender took over Guild) for sale for so cheap, I don't think Fender would bother with this. Guild guitars are super cheap right now. In terms of the dollar value you get it's probably the best deal around on an American made guitar that sounds and plays nice.

None. They've done all the good ones. Other manufacturers need to reissue their cool shit.

edit- Duo II, fine.

i'm surprised fender haven't issued a stupendously expensive custom shop version of the maple necked jazzmaster prototypes.
