Hello Nick, welcome aboard. Whereabouts are you based (may make a difference for amp recommendations)? I know James of this parish recently bought an Orange bass amp (a friend has the same one) for £80ish that he rates. I'm always eying up the Roland Bass Microcube, but that's a bit more spendy...

...then you're just across the Severn from me. James got his Orange from the music shop at Gloucester Quays for a pretty keen price - probably worth a look. Maybe he'll chime in soon.

i just run my bass thru my guitar amp. its not going to fuck it up at bedroom levels.

it sounds good pushed with the ECThunder too

what kind of guitar amp do you use for yourself?

when i was younger i was really paranoid of people using my PA to plug thier bass straight into for band practice. now that im 31 and have never blown anything in my life trying all sorts of combination of shit i doni't have any problem with it.

it's a yearly old age pensioners' sex festival, really cool.

and lurex: i'd back you up on the classic vibe P bass decision, i have one and it's very nice.

my first setup was an esp ltd f-104 through a laney amp. very good combo. but every day i wish i had gotten a fender style bass. the esp is just to *evil looking* for me.

I think James got the 30, but I could be wrong.

I think I would prefer crimbo to be a yearly old age pensioners sex fest... it would be a lot cheaper... unless the price of vaseline goes through the roof...

btw... for myself I play at the moment a fender american deluxe strat through a traynor ycv20wr... kinda cool... but thinkin of maybe getting into sgs and tiny terrors /egnator territory..

Thank you thank you thank ya..

I have the 30 and paid about 120 GBP (excuse the lack of pound sign). The 20 sounded similar, with a tiny bit less grit but the grit was sort of like a low end balls. It's difficult to describe but clear it here. They're very similar sounding and the difference is probably just the speaker. I think maybe the 20 costs 90 or 100 in that shop.

I'd recommend the amp for sure.
