How is the Musicmaster II / Duosonic II bridge grounded? Right now I have a small bare wire squashed between the metal contol plate and the bridge. Is there supposed to be a hole drilled under the brige, with a wire running from one of the pots, the bare end of it touching the bridge when it's screwed down? On my guitar the is no such hole (or wire). How did Fender do this in the factory? Where the bridges actually grounded, or where they inconsistent?

my duo II bridge isn't grounded.

factory grounds were usually just a piece of wire (or high e string?) running from under the plate to the bridge.

They were pretty inconsistent. It will benefit from a ground, which can be done in several ways.

My 76 Music Master has the e string deal - it occasionally requires me to hit the top of the volume knob to quiet the thing down - I have thought about trying for a more permanent fix but I am lazy.

My '78 MM has a hole drilled from control cavity up under the bridge, and a wire going from pot case up thru the hole to the bridge where the bare end was folded back and then squashed into the wood/finish when they screwed the bridge down. My '66 MM has never had its bridge off, but it looks to be grounded the same way.
