Now that the Wangstang is gone, I kinda miss it. But it's like shooting a horse or beating a lizard against a rock--it's the right thing to do. After the epoxy dries I can trim the edge to the pencil line and then do the round-overs. Look at how well that wood grain matches in a few spots (almost). It looks like a hand transplant. It may be orange very soon!
By the way, look at this weird, shitty ad for Fender. Color photos were still a new idea. Is that XII gold? And what is up with that bass? It looks like a Salvador Dali.

Are you going with comp orange? I've got one in the works and sourced some Comp Orange nitro in the UK - it is 'new' orange and is much darker than the classic yellow-orange. I'm torn with whether to go au-natural or try and replicate the aged colour....be interested to see what you planning!

so the wangstang is gone? or you've fixed it, and now it's no longer called the wangstang?

This was one of my favorite guitar shops in Miami. It's no longer there but Ed's was around for awhile. They had this picture on their website from the store in the 1970's. Checkout all the Firebirds, XII's, Jaguars and Jazzmasters alot of them already looking beat up.
I always thought this was a gold colored XII but could never be 100% sure.

I know there were cause I had seen the catalog but what do yout think the color is in the photo I posted. It's not the sharpest photo at all but it does look gold.

does he say "play a thong for me?"
i suppose if you stretched one tight you could get a twanging sound out of it, but i can't imagine it'd be tuneable...
