Ableton 8

Post by Rhysyrhys »

Right ok,

Just got my hands on this bad boy. Been excited for a while, but how the fuck do you use this thing? Bit of a n00b when it comes to DAW's. I can work my way around the others after a while, but I am entirely stumped about this one. Weird set up.... A few links or some helping hands on how to get an arrangement or song on the go would be good. The demo vids aren't giving me what I want. Oh yeah.. I don't have a MIDI keyboard, its just my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

What are you looking to do? I have been using Ableton for a few years. It's an older version but I might be able to help you a bit if you need anything.

Thanks for the offer, but I've just worked it all out in the last few hours.

Fucking hell, its the best programme I've ever used. Really really good! What do you use it for?

processing and multi track recording. Hopefully when my band is revived we're going full hardware/software integrated to do a lot of crazy shit live.

Most of this (free) album of mine is ableton process based. http://noisekoncept.com/nK011.html

Great, just downloading that now, will listen to it fo shizzle.

I've started doing remixes on Ableton and have completed some IDM stylee remixes of some radiohead tracks, some explosions in the sky and am currently working on remixing the entireity of Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson.

Its really fun firstly, but its the first programme thats allowed me to really get whats in my head down on a DAW and do it tastefully.

Can't wait to get some studio outboard and start using it for recording and making my own samples.

Check with Mike or Dots and see if you can get an Uploader account--then you can.

BTW, cool article in last month's TapeOp (just getting around to reading it) on the guys that run Ableton.
