Bass, how low can you go? Death row whatabrotherknow..

Post by Doog »

For quite a while now, I've been thinking about doing the following with my bass since I love how J basses feel, look and sound on the whole, but I've heard sooo many awesome P bass tones in the past..

Does anyone have both a P and J style bass? I'm just wondering if there's a massive tonal difference between a P bass pickup and the neck pickup, besides the increased high end on the D and G strings?

Could anyone record a dead quick "straight to desk" recording of their P-bass with the dials all the way up, preferably with a pick? Or even both J and P if they own both? I'll love you foreeeeeeeeeever!

A/B it with mine? I'll bring it over.

the P-Bass pickup has waaaay more definition than a Jazzy neck which sounds quite wooly on it's own.

Dang, I didn't think of that! Good work, sir.

I notice Warmoth can do me a J-bass scratchplate with a P-bass route, I'm wondering if it'll just result in a massive wait and some import tax nonsense..

Cooolo, I didn't manage to turn up any pics of that config on Google Images.

I'm definitely not in the market for a new bass, it's more fun monkeying around with these things I find. And I don't ever plan to sell it, if I happen to do a bad route job. Which is likely.

That's a P bass with a J bass bridge pickup, newb.

It would make me look very pretty, though..
