Possibly trading a Blues Jr. amp for a '65 Mustang...

There's a guy on craigslist that's a town over from me that posted this Mustang for sale at $600, but said he'd be willing to trade a Blues Jr. amp for it as well.
► Show Spoiler
That's a '76 Strat pickup there. The date does indeed seem to point to a '65. How cool is that, though? A '65 with the serial 65656.

I have a Blues Jr. amp that's sort of just a backup, as I use my Vibrosonic on everything. When I asked the missus for advice, she offered probably the best advice on anything I've ever heard: "You can't hold on to everything forever."

Hopefully I'll have a chance to check it out tonight. This would be my first Fender short scale.

Thoughts?

Go for it, an amp you barely use for a Vintage Fender Guitar, all it needs is a nice tort guard and a few electronics to be perfect again. (This is just my observation from the pics)

Unless it has some problem, I would go for that. Maybe the owner has the original electronics. You could stay with black or go red tort on the pickguard. I love the yellow red tort combo.

Well then, fuck yeah! I had pretty much decided the only thing that would stop me would be if the thing was horribly misrepresented; I'll know that later when I can hopefully meet up. I don't have any reason to suspect that though.

I'd love to throw a tort guard on there, but only if I can find one that doesn't look like complete dogballs.

As mage said - I think :) - that is an oddball muscimaster-ized one pickup Mustang - so modded electronically - but for an even swap on a Blues Jr. I'd do it in a second - the cost of restoring it would be such that you would still come out ahead - and at the end would have a vintage Mustang with your personal touch to it - that is the kind of guitar that becomes a keeper.

Could it have had some ugly routing if the pickup in there is straight ??
