at the prices they ended up selling the costello jazzy at, its no surprise.

I think I've only played one AVRI Jazzy and it wasn't near the time I played any of the Costellos I have so it's difficult to compare those, but I played three or four Costellos in America and they were all fantastic. I definitely like them more than the MIJ models I've played though I'm not sure the price difference is justified.

I've no idea what price they sold them at though. If I was after a Jazzmaster it'd be a mdoel I checked the price of but I'm guessing they ain't cheap.

From my buddy's comparison who has another AVRI the Costello is said to feel a lot nicer. I've got to say I'm EXTREMELY happy with mine though I may be just has happy with any other. Theres little different about it other than the trem spring but I love it. and I payed a fraction of what it costs now.

Firstly: I see what you did there.

Secondly: what are the differences with the trem spring, feel and stuff wise? It never particularly appealed to me as I'm not that keen on natural finishes, but would be interested to see the differences between it and my AVRI.

the trem spring is a looser spring on the Costello. I'd swap it out right away.

I wonder if the Mascis is next? Maybe it would be easier to sell or trade mine if it was discontinued.

I use 12s w/ wound G, so I think the lighter spring on the Costello would have trouble with that. My Mascis's spring did. I got an AVRI spring and put that in. The CIJ springs are a lighter gauge than AVRI and the Costello's is even lighter from what I hear.

Costello's appeal is limited? Also, he's more of a songwriter than a guitar player.
