hey all

great site here! ive got a few offsets myself

USA ocean turqoise jaguar, USA daphne blue Jazzmaster thin line and as of yesterday a Squier blue sparkle supersonic.

can i get some opinions on best custom pups for the supersonic, the stock pups are bad, but im leaning towards
the upgrade anyhow

money isnt a big issue, well i wouldnt want to pay more than $300 for a new set of them lets say...

look forward to hearing from you all

I can highly recommend Lindy Fralin Pickups. I have a pair of Jazzmaster Texas Specials that I just love. He has some great PAF humbucker replacements and some new demo videos.

The blue sparkle is my favorite supersonic color (closely followed by white). Congrats on the cool guitar. Post some pics when you get a chance.

thanks for custom PUP suggestions...ill check them out

IMHO i'd replace the pups with some DiMarzio's
a "Humbucker from hell" in the neck
and a "bluesbucker" in the bridge.
http://dimarzio.com/site/#/pickups/

but i like things to be twangy as fuck.

i'm with serfx, i like twanngy stuff aswell.

I've got a set of P-Rails that i love. Great pickups. SUPER loud humbucker, 18k or something, broke up my old solid state in a bad way but mushes up my bassman quite nicely.
The p90 sounds like a p90, because it is. Single sounds like a single coil, because it is.

downside is you need to add goofy switches or pots to really get the most out of them. i did a telecaster with p-rails and used push/pull pots so i didn't have to make it look any different

Widerangers would be cool I think. The GFS ones that are standard sized.

P-90 sized humbuckers would give you a cool sound. Though, I bet you aren't looking for another guitar with single coils.

well, what kind of sound are you after? what kind of music do you play? there's a world of options out there. from hi-gain active pickups to aged PAF replicas. it all depends on what you're going for. dimarzio, as mentioned have some great options worth browsing. GFS is worth a look as well.

i thought thinline and thinskin were completely different concepts? thinskin relates to nitro covered guitars, and little more. but thinline just means the body is less thick? well, ive played hofner guitars that they advertise and thinline and the thickness of the body was the point?? maybe im wrong

sweet guitars though. ((thumup)

thanks for suggestions fellahs

** the Jazzmaster is definatley THIN SKIN then. just the nitro finish.

i just realized i got a HELL OF A LOT more studying to do on pups since theyre are
so many godam options out there.

i like the idea of the pups having fairly distinct sounds. The neck pup being warm and a bit chimey like the jag and the bridge having more bite and cutting presence

right now the supersonic neck and bridge sound wayyyyy too similar to each other

any recommendations for
curtis novak ?
Lollar?

I've got a set of Duncan Jazz/JB's in my Super Sonic right now. LOVE the sound of them, although the JB can be a lil bright for my taste at times. All in all, the suggestions in this thread should point you in the right direction. Cheers on the good find. :)

preciate the feedback guys

forgot to mention some styles or bands i like to "TRY" to emulate

fuzzy alternative blues rock
surfy rockabilly--ish stuff
dirty funk

on my very best day, someone might say in an alternative universe my playing vaguely resembles the:
black keys - white stripes - raconteurs

(as far as pedals, im pretty simple: generally only use big muff pi...but im looking to get a holy grail nano reverb or maybe get another small tube amp with reverb on board)

cheers
