Agile Bass VIs

Post by benecol »

Well, it looks like those clever folks over at Agile have created their own take on the Bass VI. Ugly headstocks aside, I'd love one...

That looks like a standard jazz bass control plate. Would make some electronic mods a little easier.

For me it's the pickguard going up the upper horn. Also, too much bareness on that pickguard makes it look cheap.

Agreed with all the criticisms so far.

Nonetheless, this is a proper six-string bass, a point that outweighs those criticisms. They're not exactly crawling out of the walls, and to find one that comes even halfway near your idea of a decent-looking, decent-playing guitar is rare. What I'm saying is, it's like a chick with hot tits but an ugly face.

That's what I was thinking too, I'd put the '62-style stack setup on the dual pickup one.

How exactly is this instrument played? Can you play chords ala baritone guitar or is it just played like a bass.

I would imagine so.

I think it was Joe Perry who played riffs and solos on his.

In my experience (and I'd be interested to hear Sub's thoughts on the matter) while the baritone (B-B or A-A) sounds great with chords, they lose definition too much by the time you're down to E-E. Partial chords sound great though, and I always play mine with a plectrum. Sounds great.
