I saw a couple of good deals on the Bay on Squier Vista Venus 6 and 12 string guitars

The 12 string Venus looks so cool. Closest guitar to an original Fender XII

What exactly is a vista tone pickup?

The Squier Musicmaster came with a 'Vista Tone' humbucker. I don't know about the others. It's just the pickup they put in some Vista stuff. Although the Musicmaster is different in that it's Chinese.

I bought Cooter's black six string Vista Venus project a few ,eeks ago. I am trying to wire it up, but I need a 3-way switch. The former owner decided the pick guard was too flimsy to hold the jack (which is true) so he side mounted one. That means I have an extra HOLE in the guard so I am thinking about adding a knob. I know it wrecks the simplicity, but the HOLE is already there. Besides, I have no idea how to wire the thing, so I might try something along the lines of an old Duo.

The vista tone pups don't sound too good. They look cool though because they have 'vista tone' in white on the bobbin.

How does the short body feel ? Are they only for smaller framed players like chicks ?

The small body feels a bit wierd, but it has no neck dive at all. Neck is very stratish I found.

You should maybe not be resurrecting all these dead topics. I just realized how old this thread is.

It still cracks me up. With all the HOLEs in it.
