Shortscale 12-string?

BIN Â£149. I can't make up my mind whether it's really a workable 12-string or an overblown mandolin.

19" scale tuned up to A?

If those four octave courses are real and it actually can stay in tune, I'd play that thing dry.

Fender electic mandolin is about 13.7" scale length accoring to instant google. Looks rad to me, do want. Be interested to see it first hand before spunking that money.

I like the idea, would force you to find your own sound rather than copying others.
I couldn't justify spending the money.

Hmm, on a second look I quite like it, and for Â£150 looks like you can't really go too wrong.

It's a super-cheap Clearwater "12-string mini guitar" from Ebay UK. It's got a scale of about 18.5" (like if you'd put a capo on the 5th or 6th fret on a regular guitar) - think of it as something halfways between a regular 12-string and a mando-guitar; currently tuned in A.
This will be more of a modding project - the pickups will definitely have to go (they are REALLY bad) - but that's OK for a guitar that only cost 150 GBP, I'll have to dig through my parts pile to find something nicer...

Actually by the look of how light is reflecting , I'm gonna guess those are actually surpluss Chinese Tele neck p'ups.
