I dont remember anyone discussing personal lighting and i know its a bit of a luxury most bands dont go for. But does anyone have their their own lighting? What kind of stuff do you use?
In relation to this i've been looking at Oil Wheel Projectors, does anyone know anything about these? Are the cheaper versions up to the mark for a band setting?
They seem perhaps the most 'credible' psychedelic style effect, Twisters and stuff look a bit dance floor at the White Swan on a saturday night to me, as do the cheap Maplin lasers.

yeah, strobes can be cool as long as half the audience isn't frothing at the mouth by the end of the set.

i think you need to be careful with gimmicky lighting, it can look naff if it's not done right.

I thought they were just dancing, and thought those epileptics don’t half throw some crazy shapes on the dance floor.

Thanks all. I'll check them links tonight Sloan.
My first thought was a strobe and fog machine but it's quite commonplace already, we'd legally have to put warning signs up for strobe use as well. I considered a bubble machine for lulz but most venues band them as it creates a slip hazard.
Read a bit more on the projectors, it seems the diameter of the projection is the key thing, and effects cost no doubt.

when i was looking for something, i wanted a completely random effect like that, not some continuous shit that you see over and over.
