I think they're wound the same, yea, but the magnets are cut different. the strat magnets are longer and staggered while on the musicmaster family guitars they're flush with the bobbin.robert(original) wrote:you modd'd a 59 fender musicmaster? you know the pickups were all the same for strats, duos, musicmasters, and the early mustangs and duo sonics too, i believe they were all wound the same. efficient i guess.
strats are fun, but im more into a good tele.

Did you ever hear this song Mike Bloomfield recorded with his 1959 Duo-Sonic?martinharispe wrote:hey robert i just read your quote, well, this guitar just came, i did not look for it, i LOVE tele, y have 4 of them relics, Paisleys, all with B/G Stringbenders i love them, I just wanted this 59 musicmaster sound a little close to an strat, thats all, thanks!!mage wrote:I think they're wound the same, yea, but the magnets are cut different. the strat magnets are longer and staggered while on the musicmaster family guitars they're flush with the bobbin.robert(original) wrote:you modd'd a 59 fender musicmaster? you know the pickups were all the same for strats, duos, musicmasters, and the early mustangs and duo sonics too, i believe they were all wound the same. efficient i guess.

I get you point , but the good thing is that i just put another pickguard, i did not damage d eoriginal one, and also put a hardtail bridge, thats it,...to me with the bridge original the guitar has no sustain and its more twangy. i got like 4 teles that bring me all the twang that i need, once again im a player not a collector, heheh. thanks manrobert(original) wrote:yeah, that makes sense about the bobbins. i never thought of the cover/no cover idea.
it does seem silly to mod a 59 tho, especially if its all original, you know they only made 59 musicmasters in 59. but its your guitar, you do what you want.
at least you are happy with the tone now.
