Mustang Case

Post by GreenKnee »

I'm a couple of days away from getting a 65 Reissue Mustang. I just need to decide between the blue or the red.

Anyway, I've not seen anywhere saying they come with a gigbag or anything.

A quick search on google revealed no hardcases for Mustangs in UK!? Is this so, or can someone point me in the right direction.

Cheers,

Jack

If you're after a tweed-alike case the one I bought for my jag would probably work... dimensions can be had online. A Jag fits very snug so I'd imagine a stang would also fit fine but may shuffle around just slightly.

my 65 Ri came with fender tweed bag. the cp jag oyf my gbrother came with black fender bag. So, maybe if you're getting it new just wait until it's there and decide then? besides there are cheap standard strat cases around that nearly perfectly fit a Mustang. but better try before you buy, as not every case fits.

Thanks for the tips :)
I went into my local shop, and the guiy said they don't stock them, but could probably get one in, so I'm waiting for that one to come in so I can try it out.
My Jag case says it is suitable for Jaguar/Jagstang style guitars, so I'll try it in that, and if it fits nicely enough, I'll probably just get another one of those.

If all else fails, that tweed is sexy

The Hiscox model STD-EF is a good fit for a Mustang, but you'll need some padding (or at least, an old T-shirt) underneath the body to compensate for the neck relief. Hiscox sent me some extra padding in the correct matching colour for free.

The STD-EJAG model has the correct neck relief but is way too wide for the Mustang body; the guitar would slide around like crazy inside.

A universal guitar Case should fit perfectly fine, and you can make sure it fits right if you go to a nearby guitar store.

I found an Ibanez case that a jaguar will fit into. It will also fit a mustang bass. I'll try to find the model number of it and post later if anyone is interested.
