Found this browsing Flikr for loverly photos. Says it was fitted with Split Coil Precision pickups from Tone Rider. I'm really loving the F ashtray!

Apparently the pickguard is made out of salami.

I'd forgotten how pretty Mustang basses are. Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads did that with hers;
Not sure what the deal with the neck pickup is, though, Maybe moved the original to the neck?

diggin the ashtray cover. Shortscale basses are definitely the way to go...especially when you're just break the 5ft mark.

Ashtray is cool... looks really good!
I really like the stock Mustang bass pickup, so I don't see the need to change it. Sounds just like a good Precision pickup to my ears.
Too bad that almost nobody makes any Mustang bass pickup replacements... it would prevent the routing of a lot of basses I think.

I want an ashtray just to shove on something. I love those.

To each his own, but I went with a woman for these types of needs.

I like how that looks, a blending of a jazz and mustang. Sweet!

i would consider it more of a blending of a p-bass and a mustang, but yeah... thanks for noticing incorrectly in your thread resurrection.

to be fair, the only precision-like thing is the pickup. jazz bridge cover, offset body and metal control plate are J-bass features.
not that it really matters... it's fuggin' ugly anyway.

You should really read the date at the start of this thread.! It was NOT resurrected! It was first posted JAN 8 2010. If threads die off here that quickly, maybe it's because you guys treat people poorly here.
The cover is from a jazz bass, the pickups are P-bass pickups, the body is a mustang bass. The P-bass pickups are a split pickup, like a mustang bass pickup. They are rectangular in shape with exposed pole pieces. The mustang bass pickups are split and have covers on their 2 pole pieces sections and are like mini strat pickups in their shape, just shorter. I am not an idiot.

yeah, maybe. bolting on some cosmetic parts doesn't constitute blending to me. wiring new pickups in? that's blending.

oh ok, so one thread out of the other 28 was 10 days old. i guess i assumed it was old because you'd posted in it.
