An album from my band, Remi Greene...

Post by avj »

A ridiculously long two years was the time between initial ideas for A Beautiful View from the Moon and the record release party in March 2009. We recorded and mixed everything on our own, having only about six hours per week to meet up and accomplish something. This was our first full-length album and was released on CD, as well Amazon/iTunes (US, EU, JP, AUS/NZ) via TuneCore. Having something you've created appear on Amazon and iTunes is quite a thrill. For me, this meant it was done and released -- finally out of our hands. I'm truly proud of what we've accomplished and I want to share it with SS.

I finally got around to putting it up at bandcamp.com, which is a totally rad service if you're not yet familiar. I turned the "require email address for download" portion off for now, so feel free to help yourself to a copy without hassle. I welcome all feedback, as I'm genuinely and constantly in awe of the diverse musical tastes of everyone here.

Download A Beautiful View from the Moon at bandcamp.com for free, no strings attached.

Or, if you hate your money, grab it from Amazon or iTunes. [US store links.]

If you stream it from bandcamp, know that the songs were made to play back gaplessly and this doesn't work in their player. Oh, and I'm the one with the shaved head and black beard -- lookin' like Dave Attell on a diet.

Well sofar, I must say this isn't quite my bag but I do appreciate the excellent songwriting, the good production quality and general execution of this record. Good jorb! I can see this appealing to a lot of people.

It reminds me of Blue Rodeo.

Thanks guys. I know we didn't exactly bring the balls-out rock attack on this one.

Because there were only the three of us on guitar when we started writing, most of it was done with acoustic instruments and the proper arrangements were worked out in rehearsals. We had finally settled on a line-up about two songs before finishing the album. Last fall we began writing material for a new album as a proper electrical bandular unit, and things are naturally heading in a more aggressive direction. The most recent batch of songs we've worked on is my favorite so far, with everything coming together much quicker than ABVFTM. Hopefully we won't Loveless the shit out of this one too.

Considering the professionalism in execution and complexity of the arrangements in the record you just busted out, I'll be very interested to hear this new batch of tracks, when you have 'em. Also, I can't hear any Lovelessness in the recording, really. Sounds great to me.

Thanks man. I mostly just meant the "taking two fuckin' years" part of Loveless. I'm also pretty sure we came in a fair bit less than $500,000 on our record.

As soon as we have some completely mixed and locked-in tracks, I'll put them up somewhere. Right now we're putting together an EP with some unfinished songs and a few new ones in the same vein as ABVFTM before moving on.
