ITT: Jazz Bass pics

I'm considering a jazz bass project, either full parts or modding something (probably japanese). I could do with some inspiration pics. My problem is that I love a lot of the vintage looking stuff, I definitely cant afford to buy one (about $10k for a 60s Jazz Bass from a dealer) and having a new one that has the appeal of the vintage ones. I don't want to get into all the relicing nonsense so I'm looking for a balance between vintage and new I guess. I suppose maybe the sort of thing the custom shop call NOS. One problem I have is while I love the white/tort look, nice looking modern tort is near impossible to find and the old stuff very expensive.

Here are a couple of pics I like to get started.

I might be able to stretch to a Ric. I absoluetly love them but I think I'll still want a jazz or similar, and although I would prefer a Ric, a jazz would be more satisfying. The jazz bass should work out to be a bit more versatile for what I want to play. So pics of other nice basses wouldn't go amiss. I'd slightly consider a P or something else, but I don't want to go shortscale on this one.

I've got a Fender Jazz Bass project I would let go of for cheap/a good trade.

The problem is . . . it is the MIM Deluxe Jazz, so unlike the Vintage Basses the input jack is on the side and has stacked volume knobs. The body and headstock are primed and ready to be painted. I've been waiting two months now for it to get above 60 to paint. It will probably be another 2 months before I get to. -sigh-

are those yellow pearloid blocks? good grief
my dad wanted to put this along with a pearloid pickguard on his bass but i'll be damned that'd be as queer as a 3 dollar bill

I'd still recommend this B&B allparts neck however definitely try and get it cheaper if at all possible.

I really like this sonic blue custom shop model. D&B looks great on these.

This is a 64 that has that 'softened' look due slightly uneven colour fading.

Some taken from offset. I really like the two knob control plates. I'm thinking if I do this I'll have a control plate like that but use two standard knobs, Mustang style.

This last one is supposed to be Ice Blue Metallic. I've never seen one greened so much but it also looks like its a bit of a bad photo.

Dots and binding is classy. My favourite combination.

Think this is a Jazz - if so I love the red with maple black B&B neck. For ages thought it was a Mustang bass and fully plan to do one in the same colorz

You can pick up a Jaguar bass for $500. I was considering getting one and getting a scratchplate made to have less of the chrome. Sort of jazzmaster bass-ish. Then when looking pics I remembered that it's blocks without binding which looks ridiculous.

That 50th Anniversary model in CAR is the same (and near custom shop prices).

I've always wanted one. No bass is cooler than an old beat up Jazz bass.

I'm not sure if I like that or not. I think I like it but wouldn't want to own it.
