How well did UPS ship my Bronco? PIC HEAVY

I recently purchased brambleperro's 70's Bronco and I thought I'd post the pics of how well UPS shipped it. First of all, brambleperro packed it really well. He wrapped the guitar in bubble wrap, and stuffed it with paper to keep it solid in the case. Then he put the case in a box in between packing peanuts, so it was well packed. Someone at UPS clearly tossed this thing around though; the neck actually cracked through the top of the case, and the trem arm post stuck through the lid!

I'm not posting this to dis UPS (out of all the guitars that I have had shipped by them this is the only time this has happened) I'm posting it to demonstrate how bad ass this guitar is. Despite being tossed around and breaking through the case the guitar was still in tune.

Here is the top where the neck cracked through:

As far as the cases condition goes I had to glue the neck rest and box back in place because they were all broken free. I need to glue and clamp the top back in place and the case will still be usable. I had a telecaster a while back that fell off it's wall hanger right onto the top of its neck. A really hard fall and only one string was out of tune. My grandmother (who is 90 years old now and still the toughest woman I know) had these strawberry appliques in her garage. I put one on the Telecaster after the fall, and I think this Bronco earned it too.

It's unbelievable how these shipping companies can repeatedly get away with this kind of behaviour.
Having said that - the guitar looks great and glad it got to you in one piece even if the case did not!

sorry but i DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY there's still people that INSIST in shipping with fuckin' UPS. they thrash and steal guitars/gear for fun, it seems. WAY too many horror stories. fuck them (UPS i mean).

when DNRG8 sent me his bronco from the US to mexico he put it in its original case, and a carton around it. that's pretty much it, IIRC. he shipped USPS (cost around $50) and it arrived all a-ok here, about 10 days later.

USE USPS doggone it guys. or DHL, at least. or FedEx, if you must.

but NOT UPS.
once and for all.

enjoy the guitar, broncos RULE!!! :D

Pat.

(sorry the rant)

Well, this is the first time I have had a problem with UPS, but every major carrier likes to leave stuff on my front porch. I'm sorry but a giant package shouldn't just be left on my front porch when I'm not home. I live in a nice neighborhood but lets not test it.
I LIEK IT!
Thanks. I planned on maybe refinishing it one day, but I'm not sure I want to now. Whoever refinished it last time did a decent job.
I only have a few of my grandmothers decals/appliques left. I have another "gay ass fruit patch," a cock about to give to a hen, and a hoedown.
My girlfriend's gay cat approves of them!

Those decals above are really awesome. I also think the ones on your guitars look fantastic.

At least the guitar is ok, I have seen some HORRIBLE pictures of guitar damage (usually of Les Pauls / SGs).

When I bought a Moog Voyager it was shipped in a hardshell case via UPS. The case was annihilated, but the Voyager was fine. They managed to break off the wheels and several large chunks of plastic.

As soon as I know that UPS has delivered something to my house I assume that there will be some type of damage.

when i bought coweys classic squire jazz bass off of him a few years back it was the same situation, except with usps.
i don't recal having many problems with ups, but usps DEFFINITLY! LONG delays on stuff, like a pedal to dots took 4 weeks to get from indiana to his place in cali.
decals i ordered from Co. took like 3-4 weeks to get to In.
i think its bullshit that you have to pay insurrence on that stuff too. like, "hey, give us more money and we promise to do our job correctly!"

I might be wrong, but I think UPS have rules to where they are allowed to drop a package so many inches/feet from the ground. I don't remember what it is, but it's a large number; and I don't think other shipping companies allow this. I don't like UPS much, and I try to not deal with them.

I'm glad your guitar is okay. Nice looking cat, too.

This does sound sort of familiar. I worked in shipping some as a lad and we'd have to send UPS some test packages to make sure they were packed properly to work with their tolerances.

That said, I've never in my life had a problem with receiving a botched package. Some boxes have looked like they flew into a warzone but the contents has always been fine. I fucked up pretty royally on the shipping end a few times though. There's nothing like remembering some specific package because packing it was a huge pain and you thought you slayed the dragon, only to have it returned with all of the contents totally destroyed.

avoid UPS, I have a couple of friends that used to work for them and they tell me about the complete disregard for peoples' packages...I've heard stories on how sometimes employees would fuck things around for fun or steal packages because it had a musicians friend label or it look as it might be an instrument or something like that...
