Is there any measure of quality with these or are they all much of a likeness?

Don't know about the other ones like this, but this is what I use to tune my acoustic. It should be able to tune my electrics as well, but never as precise as a regular, plug-in tuner.

Cheers, I panicked in the end and bought the first on that looked like it had a good backlight on it.

I use a Tune Tech TT-501

Works really well. I'd recommend it to anybody. I've only used it with acoustic guitar/ukulele though.

That's the sort of one a guy at my work recommended to me and said it's the "standard for folk" or something. I settled on this one in the end as it had the tuning range and was a bit cheaper - and with that all important backlight!
