that's about half what the "standard" price for these things is. market sucks for vintage gear these days. although '52s are the least desirable of all '50s les pauls.

Agreed,but damn,the case alone is worth $2500!

for that price, someone's probably gonna convert it to a burst. you can see that the maple is quite figured in the wear spot. the tricky thing is you have to reset the neck to set it up with an abr-1 and stoptail. which is why these things are so undesirable. which is a shame, i think it's pretty cool-looking as-is.

How does the bridge work? Am I imagining things or are the strings coming out from under the bridge instead of over it?

I see it too. some bizarro bridge, perhaps someone just put them on wrong.

the bridge is like that from the factory, iirc the neck is set at the wrong angle so the strings have to run under the bridge instead of over it.

Was that Les Pauls idea?Because I read that his major contribution to the guitar was the design of that trapeze bridge.

I would cherish that thing. That is my dream guitar: 1950s, P90s, goldtop. Amen, pass the hat.

Of course, I also can't imagine owning anything worth $7K.

wasn't there a reissue of that complete with stoopid tailpiece about 5 minutes after uncle les had popped his clogs?

Yep The Les Paul Tribute. It's a regular production model. I think they tried to fix some of the problems with the bridge on the Tribute model.

The Custom Shop makes a '52 Reissue with the original bridge design intact.
